HEATING ATTACHMENT FOR LAMP-CHIMNEYS;
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 29, 1915.
Application filed December 29, 1914. Serial No. 879,498.
To all 1072. am it may concern Be it known that I, CARRIE E. SNAVELY,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Sauk Rapids, in the county of Benton and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heating Attachments for LampChimneys; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make the same.
This invention has for its object to provide a novel and inexpensive heating attachment which may be readily applied to and supported upon a lamp chimney for the purpose of utilizing the heat generated by the illuminating flame.
Another object is the provision of an attachment of this character including a body having an annular flange or shelf at its lower edge constituting a combined support for objects placed thereon and a reflector for the lamp.
Another object is the provision ofa heating attachment for lamp chimneys including a frusto-conical body portion having a perforate drum at the upper end for radiating the heat rising through the chimney.
lVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts as will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed and illustrated. in the accompanying drawings, in which the figure represents a longitudinal sectional view through the attachment applied to use.
Referring to the drawing by numerals of reference, the numeral 5 indicates the frustoconical body of the attachment preferably stamped from sheet metal and having an angularly directed and horizontally disposed flange or shelf 6 of annular formation projecting from the lower edge thereof. A shank 7 is secured to the frusto-conical body 5 and carries a handle 8 at its outer extremity whereby the attachment may be conveniently positioned upon or removed and use from a lamp chimney 11. A hollow drum of considerably greater diameter than the upper extremity of the frusto-conical mem her 5 is secured to the latter and formed with a plurality of perforations 10. As clearly illustrated in the drawing, the bottom of the drum 9 is formed with an opening in which is received the upper edge of the frusto-conical body 5.
In use, the frusto-conical body 5 of the attachment is positioned over the upper end of the lamp chimney 11, and the heat rising within the chimney is radiated by the drum 10. It is evident that the annular flange or shelf at the lower edge of the frusto-conical body is so arranged as to support articles in position adjacent the lamp chimney and also constitutes a reflector for reflecting the rays of light from thefiame of the lamp.
What I claim is:
' 1. An attachment for lamp chimneys comprising a frusto-conical body, an annular flange on shelf at the lower end of said body, and a perforate drum at the upper end of said body.
2. An attachment for lamp chimneys comprising a frusto-conical body, an annular flange secured to the large end of said body, and a perforate drum secured to the small end of said body.
3. An attachment for lamp chimneys comprising a frusto-conical body, an annular flange or shelf secured at the large end of said body and a perforate drum secured to and of greater diameter than the small end of said frusto-conical body.
4:. An attachment for lamp chimneys com prising a frusto-conical body, an annular flange at the large end of said body, a perforate drum at the small end of said body, and a handle carried by said frusto-conical body.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CARRIE E. SNAVELY.
