1 all whom it may concern I Be it known that l, EDWARD G. Davis, a citizen of the United States, residing at Paris Crossing, in the county of Jennings and State of Ilndiana, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Fuses, of which the following is a specification.
An object of this invention is the provision. of a fuse including a fusible conductor and means for detachably securing and inclosing said conductor.

Li ith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts as will be hereinafter specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,

Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several news, the numeral 1 indicates a cylindrical casing having both ends open and preferably formed .of a suitable insulating com-- position. Annular members 2 having inwardly directed. liangcs i'l are frictionally engaged over the ends of the casing 1 and are formed with diametrically elongated openings 4 receiving the ends of the fusible conducting wire 5, which are bent over the inwardly directed flanges 3 at right angles to the elongated openings 4, as indicated at (3. The sleeve or annular member 2 is profrom the inwardly directed flange 3 and is formed of a suitable conducting material such as copper. A. pair of U-shaped springs 15 having their free ends 16 overlapped are secured to the inner, face of the end wall 13 and frictionally engage the turned end 6 of the conducting wire to provide an electrical connection between the terminals i l at the opposite ends of the fuse.
When it is desired to. replace or reload the fuse, the clips 10 are swung outwardly on their pivots 11 and the caps 12 removed from the fuse casing 1. The annular members 2 are subsequently turned to aline the angularly directed ends 6 of the wire 5 with the diametrically elongated openings l, and removed. The fusible wire 5 and filling 7 are then removed and the new fuse wire and filling are replaced in the casing 1.
lVhat I claim is A device of the character described comprising a casing, annular members rotatably mounted on the ends of said casing and having diametrically elongated openings therein, a fusible member positioned within said casing, extending through the openings in said annular member and having the opposite ends bent over said annular members at right angles to the elongated openings of the latter,'caps dctachably secured to said annular members, and oppositely arranged U-shaped spring contacts in said casing normally engaging the bent ends of said fusible member.
