" CHURN.
Specication of Letters Patent.
` Application led April 7, 1913, Serial No.1759,565. Renewed September 12, 1914. Serial No. 861,487.
To all 'whom it may concern Be it known that we, Isaac M. HIGKMAN and FRED LYNCH, citizens of the United States, residing at Springeld and Lebanon, respectively, in the counties of Greene and Laclede, respectively, State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Churns, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanyin drawings.
This invention re ates to new and useful -improvements in churns, and more particutures of construction, formations, combina-V tions and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more particularly described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1, is a vertical sectional view of our invention. Fig. 2, is. a horizontal sectional view thereof. l
The following invention is designed for the purpose of improving Letters Patent, No. 830,010, by supplying an improved dasher therefor.
Referring to the accompanying drawings by similar characters of reference, the numeral 10 designates generally the churn which consists of a substantially cylindrical receptacle 11 having a removable top or closure 12. This receptacle 11 is mounted in the frame 12 supported by the springs 13, as clearly shown, for obvious reasons. The cover 12 vis provided at diametrically l opposite points adjacent its outer edge with threaded openings 14. These 'openings eX-` tend from the'inner side of the closure 12 to Patentenivov. s, 1914.
will prevent leakage. A pair of depending. i
rods 15 having upper screw threaded terminal Shanks 16 are threaded in the openings 14, being limited in their movement bythe collars 17 formed upon the said rods. The' lower terminals of the rods 15 are likewise provided with screw threaded Shanks 18 which Shanks are adapted to extend through the openings 19 formed in the opposite ends of a dasher 20=disposed within the receptacle 11 substantially `intermediate the ends thereof. This dasher is retained upon vthe rods.
15 by means of the winged locking nuts 21. The dasher 2O can beV of any desired shape or size but is preferably made slightly less in width and length than the diameter of the receptacle 11 in order that the contents thereof can pass .through its opposite sides. The dasher 20 is further provided with spaced openings 21"through which the contents of the receptaclev can also pass. The locking nuts 21 afford a means for quickly removing the dasher from the rods 15 after the cover 12 has been removed from the receptacle, for cleaning purposes, and if desired the rods 15 can also be unscrewed from the openings 14 by rotating-them in a proper direction. The collars 17 formed upon the rods 15 prevent the cont-ents of the receptacle 11 from working its way ,intjo the openings 14 between the threads of the said openings and Shanks 16.
From the foregoing disclosures taken-1n connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be manifest. that a dasher for churns is provided which will full all of the necessary requirements of such a device.
eoI
It should be understood in this connect-ion that various minor changes in the specificl details of construction can beresortedto within the scope of the appended claim, Without departing from or sacrificing any of the advantages lof the invention.
Having thus fully described this inven- .tion what we claim as new and desire to protect b Letters Patent is:
-In a c urn, the combination-of a churn body, a cover secured i0 Said. body, means for retaining the @over in poton, a pair of depending rods threaded in Lhe under face of the cawfer, Hm; dasheyhfyqvng its oppor te ends mounted on the rods and provided Wh central opnings, means; for prexjenting thedasher from Workng o of the lower ends of the rods, and reslen suppolrsing means for the @hun1
