The length 0f the pe 'of towes Within the. box is sighiy lese than the distance be ween the grit-@miens C so that While that@ i5 sucient denunce to prmt, the towels to rop freely @tween the said .xtensious there is not sucen cleamnce o permit tha extensions t0 be pressed sufniently iiwr to allow the ugs 7 t9 diSBI-gagi m the sos 8 of the vfr 4 While thre ars ow/s in th@ body L It is thus @vidant @hat h?, @over i @an nai; be relsed or @pam while there are towels in the container,
The Loweg l0 being supported by ik@ ,rulers 2 and 9 it is evident that shoud u, tow'e be Apudl in the direction shown n 'Fig'. l it will have a tendency to h@ entire pile forward, inasmuch as t le Sup has beau @moved with *bh Ilaced within hebqdy porting roller E2- is free to rotate, until the rear edges of the pile very nearly reaches the said roller 2. the said forward movement being regulated by the lugs 7 moving in the arcuate slots S.
ln pulling a towel from the direotion shown in 3 it is evident that the towels will be supported bythe rear roller 2 and the towel being withdrawn will have a tendency to niove the cover 4 and roller 9 forward as illustrated until the roller 9 very nearly reaches the forward or front edge of the pile of towelsv within the body l, the said forward movement being also regulated by the lugs 7 within the slots 8.
It is obvious from the foregoing that by pulling' a towel from the container under either of the .above described movements, the said towel Willbe practically unrolled from the bottom of the pile instead of being pulled.. Thisl will tend to greatly reduce the friction attendant upon the re moval of a towel. A
This is essential inasmuch as the hands 'of the operator are wet and the darnpness being absorbed by thetowel causes a rapid separation of the fiber and frequently the towel is torn apart instead of being pulled from the container. lt is also obvious from the foregoing that we have provided iniproved' means for threading the towels between the rollers and also provided" ino.` proved means whereby the container is auto matically looked when closed and can not be rei-opened until all. of the towels have been removed therefrom.
Having thus described our invention what 'we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is-
f1. towel container eoinprising a body portion; a roller rotatably mounted within the lower part of the body portion; a hover portion hinged to the body portion adapted to swing outward when altowel is being withdrawn from the said container; and a roller rotatably' mounted within the lower part or' the cover portion and adapted to lie parallel with the roller in the body portion.
ifi paper towel container comprising a body portion having extensions thereto; a roller rotatably mounted Within the lower part of the body portion; a; cover portion hinged to the body portion and adapted to engage the extensions thereof and to swing outward when a towel is being withdrawn from the Container; and a roller rotatably mounted within the lower part of the cover portion and adapte-dito lie parallel with the roller in the body portion and to supporta pile of interleaved towels therein.
3.
