Description

, To all whom t may concern:
' naar o. ARMSTRQNG?, or raam, AMBY; New JERSEY.
FLY-cameriere.
lineaire.
Specicatigon of Letters Patent.,
Patented ec. 30,1913..
l. Appnanon inea ocmw ai', '1.911.' serial Nq. 652,494;
Be it known-that LlVIARr C. ARMSTRONG, a citizen of'the United States,; and a resident of Perth Amboy, in the county of Mid-` dlesex and fState of .New Jersey, have invented a new. and Improved .Fly-Catcher, of which the following is a ful1clear, and exact description. i
Among the principal objects which the present 'invention has in View are: to provide means for holding adhesive paper or material in a manner to protect the' samefrom accidental contacting with adjacent articles; and to provide a frame for supporting adhesive material or paper for ldispos` ing the same in convenient position and for otherwise handling the' trap. f
One embodiment of the present invention is disclosed in the strnctnre illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in Which-` Figur'el lis a side view of atrap constructed and arranged inaccordance with the present invention; Fig. 2 isa similar- .view taken from the opposite side of 4the trap; and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section taken-on the line 3-3 in Fig'. .1. i The embodiment o f theV invention portrayed in the accompanying drawings consists in providing ya heavy `wire frame 8.
lbent to any desired shape, the preferred form being shown in the drawings, and best seen in Fig. 2 thereof. Thefw'ire composing the frame 8 is twisted upon itself to produce the handle 9, at the end whereof is forn'ied an eyelet 10. Snitably secured to the frame 8 is a Wire gauze filling '11.. The filling may be constructedV from Woven wire, the inesh/ whereof is of any4 desired size. By means.
of the eyelets 12 a second frame 13 is hinged 'to the first mentioned franie'S. The frame 13 is substantially the same in shape as the frame 8, and may be given aV permanent shape or forni by the loose sides` which. are
- cach provided with'hcok-like ends 141, 111.
lt is preferred to form the sides of the frame 123 independently, that thel said sides may he spread outward to adapt. tln-msclves .more readily to the adjustment-.of the paper 15 carrying the adhesive or ent-anglingsurface common lo so-cal'led flyV paper. The paper 15 is preferably formed tothe shape shown in the .drawings eorrespondin to me name 8. However, the paper may eprovided'in any suitable. form and trimmed after it is securedbetween the frames 8 and 13.
are released andthe frame thrown back to the position as indicated by the. broken lines in Fig. l. The paper 15 is then disposed on the frame' 8, the adhesive surface resting lightlyupon the wire of the filling-11. The frame 13" is then drawn'ver the edges of the frame 13 are wrapped about the handle 9, as seen best in Fig. 2 of the drawings. The tension of -the resilient material from which the framel isconstructed holds the ends 14, 14 locked upon the'handle '9. When thusequipped the-trap maybe moved from point to point, or waved gently ,through the air by the attendant grasping for that purpose the handle 9. I'f the frames 8 and 13 be /forrned on vsovcalle'd rotary fansor ily lia/ns, 'the construction will be substantially the saine as herein described for Vthe hand the trap may be moved from point to point, or may be hung upon the wall or other convenient position. I
In the' preferred form the filling l1 and frames 8 and 13 areeonstrnctcd from bright .tinned wire, which may be sterilized at 'any lwater. i
i' Having thus described my invention. what I elaiin :is new and desire to secure by Letters Patentris A holder for fly paper comprisingr al1-open mesh screen having a marginal frameahack adapted to hold the papel' against the screen;
screen fraino and adaptedl lto engage theedges ofthe paper, a handle' on thef screen frame bv means of which the device -inay be waved throng-h the. air, and means. for locking the bac-k in closed position.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of tivo subscribing witnesses;
v LMARY C. ARMSTRONG.
