CHARLES E. WILSON, OF MUSKEGON, IVIICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO THE SHAW-WALKER COMPANY, OF MUSKEGON, MICHIGAN, A CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN.
FILING-TRAY.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 4., 1913.
Application filed March 9, 1912. Serial No. 882,656.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, CHARLES E. WILSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Muskegon, in the county of Muskegon and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Filing-Trays, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to filing trays, and its object is to provide a device of that character which may be adjustable to different sized cards, etc., filed therein, and whose construction shall be improved in various respects. This object is attained by, and the invention finds a preferable embodiment in, the filing tray hereinafter described, and illustrated by the accompanying drawings, in which;
Figure l is a perspective view of my card tray; Fig. 2 is an inner face view of one of the end pieces thereof, and Fig. 3 is a side edgewise view of such end piece.
The card tray 1 is formed with wooden end pieces 2 and sheet metal side and bottom angle pieces 3. Each angle piece forms a side of the tray and preferably half of its bottom as shown, the horizontal portion 4 which forms the trays half bottom engaging in kerfs 5 in the end pieces, and the vertical portion 6, which forms the trays side, being secured, as by screws 7, to the side edge of the end pieces 2, which are slightly rabbeted to receive such portions. Only one side piece, however, need have the horizontal portion, thus forming the entire bottom. By providing several kerfs as shown, the angle pieces may be inserted into one or another kerf to raise or lower the bottom of the tray.
Not confining myself to the details of construction shown or described, I claim:
1. A filing tray having end pieces, and side pieces removably attached thereto, the side pieces having a vertical portion forming a side of the tray, and one side piece having a horizontal portion forming a bottom of the tray.
2. A filing tray having end pieces and side pieces attached thereto, each end piece having a horizontal kerf on its inner side, the side pieces having a vertical portion forming a side of the tray, and one side piece having a horizontal portion forming a bottom of the tray and inserted into the kerfs.
8. A filing tray having end pieces and side pieces attached thereto, each end piece having a horizontal kerf on its inner side, and each side piece having a vertical portion forming a side of the tray and a horizontal portion forming a part of the bottom of the tray and inserted into the kerfs.
4. A filing tray having end pieces and side pieces detachably fastened thereto, each end piece having a plurality of horizontal kerfs on its inner side, severally adapted to removably hold the horizontal portion of a side piece, and the side pieces having a vertical portion forming a side of the tray, and one side piece having a horizontal portion forming a bottom of the tray and inserted into one of the kerfs.
5. A filing tray having end pieces and side pieces, each end piece having a plurality of horizontal kerfs on its inner side, severally adapted to removably hold the horizontal portions of the side pieces, and each side piece having a vertical portion forming a side of the tray and detachably fastened to the end pieces and having a horizontal portion forming a part of the bottom of the tray and inserted into one of the kerfs.
6. A filing tray having end pieces and side pieces detachably fastened thereto, one end piece having a plurality of horizontal kerfs on its inner side severally adapted to removably hold the horizontal portion of a side piece, and the side pieces having a vertical portion forming a side of the tray, and one side piece having a horizontal portion forming a bottom of the tray and inserted into one of the kerfs.
7. A filing tray having end pieces and side pieces, one end piece having a plurality of horizontal kerfs on its inner side severally adapted to removably hold the horizontal portions of the side pieces, and In testimony whereof I have hereunto set each side piece having a vertical portion my hand in presence of two subscribing forming a side of the tray and detaohably Witnesses.
fastened to the end pieces and having a CHARLES E; WILSON. 5 horizontal portion forming a part of the Witnesses:
bottom of the tray and inserted into one of W. H. MENIFF,
the kerfs. G. B. VAN SYKE.
