Columbia, in the district of Richland and State of South Carolina, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Mouse-'l-Iap, and I do hereby declare 'lheignrc is aperspective view ot my improved trap, part being broken away to show the construction. v. A

My invention hasfor its kobject to furnish an improved mouse-trap, which shall be simple in construe tion, not liableto get ont of order", easily set, and reliable in operation, and I It consists inthe construction and combination of the` various parts of the trap, as hereinafter more inlly` described. I,

A is an oblong box, made of any suit-able material, and so constructed that the mouse cannot gnaw through it and thus escape.

One end of the box Ais closed witha wire grating, '13,and the Iother end is closed with a door, G,- which slides upaud down in grooves in the inner surfaces of the endsof the side boardsof said box A. s

The door C ismade heavy or is weighted, so that 1 it will drop quickly, and close the trap as soon as reslots or slits, al, formed-in them, and extending from the forward end of said box to or alittle past the passed beneath the bottom. of the box A, and are attached to acatch, a2, attached to the side ofthe box A, or to one of the uprights F,'the cord or thread G being so arranged as to hold the door C raised.

The mouse enters the outer or forward compartment through the open door-way, and seeing the light entering through the other end of the box, he goes /in without fear. Findingaccess to they bait obstructed by the grating H, he
