llvlPnovI-:MNT IN Mouse-TRAPS.
The Schedulereferred to in these Letters Patent and making part cf the same.
To allwhom 'Haney concern: l I Y Be it known that I, WILLIAM KIBIICHMAN, of
Columbia, in the district of Richland and State of South Carolina, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Mouse-'l-Iap, and I do hereby declare 'lheignrc is aperspective view ot my improved trap, part being broken away to show the construction. v. A
My invention hasfor its kobject to furnish an improved mouse-trap, which shall be simple in construe tion, not liableto get ont of order", easily set, and reliable in operation, and I It consists inthe construction and combination of the` various parts of the trap, as hereinafter more inlly` described. I,
A is an oblong box, made of any suit-able material, and so constructed that the mouse cannot gnaw through it and thus escape.
One end of the box Ais closed witha wire grating, '13,and the Iother end is closed with a door, G,- which slides upaud down in grooves in the inner surfaces of the endsof the side boardsof said box A. s
The door C ismade heavy or is weighted, so that 1 it will drop quickly, and close the trap as soon as reslots or slits, al, formed-in them, and extending from the forward end of said box to or alittle past the passed beneath the bottom. of the box A, and are attached to acatch, a2, attached to the side ofthe box A, or to one of the uprights F,'the cord or thread G being so arranged as to hold the door C raised.
H are wires, secured to the top and .bottom of the .box A, upon each side of the cord G, so as Vto form a partition in the said box, dividing the said box int-o two compartments, a "space being left between the wires in the middle part of the box, of suiheientsize for a mouse to pass through frcel y, which space is occupied by the threads or cordsG. i
llhe bait is placed in the inner compartment, between the twogratings B and H'. The mouse enters the outer or forward compartment through the open door-way, and seeing the light entering through the other end of the box, he goes /in without fear. Findingaccess to they bait obstructed by the grating H, he
soon finds the-cords or threads-G, and following his natural instinct, he gnaws off said cord, which ref I claim as new and desire to secure by yLetters latent- A11-improved mouse-trap, formed byth'eli; ombination of the box A, wire-grating B, weiglited=` or G,
pivoted lever D, pivoting-rod E, nprights F, cord or i thread G, and wires H, with each other, substantially I as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
