The Schedule referred to in these Lettera Patent and making pari: ofthe same.
To all whom it may concern.-
.Be it known that I, CORNELIUS S. SEE, of New Brunswick, in the county of Middlesex andState of New' Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Attaching Sponge and Chalk-Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this Specification.
My invention relates to devices employed to hohll chalk or sponge on the side of desks or tables, and consists in an improvement thereon, which will be more particularly specied hereinafter.

A is the cup-holder, consisting of a plate of metal, preferably cast-iron, of suitable length 'and breadth,
t with a slot in `one end for thereception of the shank B of the cup C, and havngtwo or more screw-holes, D, one of which passes through the slotted end, so that the screw will form the pivot of the shank ofthe cup, and both screws serve to hold the holder A to the table in a very permanent manner, and much better than in the common way, where one screw' only is used, without the holder A, and screwing directlyinto the wood after passing through the hole inthe shank.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters 4 Patent- As a new article of manufacture, a chalk-holder, combining the cup C, having shank B thereon, with the slotted plate A, perforated for two screws, as shown and described.v
