Be it known thatl, GORDON VViLLrAMs, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Haven, inthe county of New Haven 'and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and iisefnl lmprovementfin Electric Lamps and Supporting-Brackets Therefor; and l do hereby declare the following, when taken in -connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reterence'marked thereon, to be a full', clear, and exact description of the' same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application, and .represent, in

This invention relates to an improvement in electric lamps and supporting brackets therefor, and particularly to electric lam'ps for vehicles in which one pole of the circuit' is made through the'lalnp 'body and supporting bracket, and the other by a wire leading through the bracket, and is animprovement on the invention shown and described in Letters. The o ject of this invention is to make the connection more directly with the lamp and avoid wiring the lamp body; and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claims.
in carrying out my invention, l employ a lamp-body 2 of any approved design providednear itstop with a socket plate 3 cary i r ing a socket t adapted to be passed overt e horizontal arm 5 of' a supporting bracket. Entered through the socket is a set screw 6 for clamping the lamp to the bracket. Extending through the horizontal arm 5 is a longitudinal hole 7 formed in its outer end with a chamber 8 to receive an inling through it,'a contact pin mounted in the sulating block 9. In this block is a metal bushing 10 to the rear end of which'a wire 11 is attached, this wire leading through thebracket to a battery, not shown.` In the outer end of the bushing is a sprin opei' ated pin l2 which normally projects' eyond the end of an insulating block 9', and is adapted to strike one side of asleeve 13 lsecured in the top of a lamp'from which it is Iinsulated by a block 14,- this block 14 containing a centrally arranged metallic housing 15 electrically connected with the sleeve by a screw 1G or otherwise, and containing a spring pin 17 making contact" with one pole fthe lamp, the other pole, asl before stated,

that the top of the lamp body may 'be finished with any suitable ornamental'cap to inclose the upper end.
The lamp is supported on the bracket, and
when passed onto the horizontal` arm to a suiiicient extent, the spring pin 12 will come to a bearing against the sleeve 13"a-nd so 80 close the circuit through the lamp.
