PORTABLE POULTRY-PERCH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 3, 1912.
Application filed May 1, 1912. Serial No. 694,399.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUS M. BEECHER, Sn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Belleville, in the county of Republic, State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Poultry-Perches; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in poultry perches.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a simple device of this character which may be conveniently taken apart to be cleaned or stored, and which is'reversible, and can be set up in any position in the poultry house.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description and with particular reference to the accompanying drawings.
'In the drawings: Figure l is a side elevation of my perch, Fig. 2 is a front elevation, Fig. 3 is a top plan view, Fig. 1 is a vertical longitudinal section on the line t- 1 of Fig. 3, Fig. 5 is an enlarged fragmentary perspective view of one portion of the perch, and Fig. 6 is a plan View of the perch with the dropping board removed.
Referring particularly to the drawings, 10 represents the corner supports or legs which are connected together and suitably spaced apart by the rails 11. Formed through each end of each of the rails 11 and through the supporting legs is an opening 12. Extending between the ends of the rails 11 are the rails 13 to each end of each of which is secured a bolt 14, said bolt having an eye portion 15 secured to said rail or strip 13 and having the threaded nut 16 passed through the openings 12 and adapted to receive a tightening nut 16 on their outer ends. In this manner the parts are held together and. form the rectangular frame supported about two feet above the ground. Removably pivoted by means of the bolt 18 to the upper end of two of the supporting members 10 are the strips 19 which extend toward the other of the supports 10 and have their edge beveled as indicated at 20 to be received by the sleeve 21 secured to said last-named supporting member. Secured to the strips 19 and extending therefrom are the perch poles 23 on which the poultry perch.
A dropping board 24 is slidably mounted on the rails 11, and has the battens 25 for slidable engagement with the rails 26 of the rails 11. The dropping board is disposed below the perch pole, and can be conveniently withdrawn for washing or cleaning or repairing or the strips 19 may be moved upwardly on their pivots so that the board may be more conveniently removed, or cleaned while it is on the perch.
From the foregoing it will thus be seen that upon removal of the nuts of the four supporting members, the perch can be conveniently taken apart for moving or for storing away.
What is claimed is:
A poultry perch, comprising supporting members, rails connecting pairs of supporting members, spacing rails extending from one pair of supporting members to another pair, said supporting members being provided with bolt openings, said spacing rails having bolts secured thereto for reception in the openings of the supporting members together, a strip pivotally mounted on the upper end of two of the supporting members, the free ends of the pivoted perch being beveled, cleats on the upper end of the supporting members adjacent the free ends of the perch, said cleats having beveled recesses for the reception of the ends of the perch, and a removable dropping board slidably mounted on the rails. I
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
