Ifile Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making prt of the same Be it known that I, GEORGE W. DALBEY, of Carrollton, in the. county of Oarrolland State of Mississippi, have invented a new and improved One-armed `Mans Assistant; `and. I do hereby declare that the `following is a `full, clear, and exact description thereoi, which Willenable others skilled in the art to make and use the same,-referenee 'being had to the accompanying drawing forming part fof this specification.

The invention eonsist-s'chieyiu the employment of a spring bar, which carrbe pushedforward by means ofthe arm, stump, or shoulder of a one-armed person, to operate a .pivoted bell-crank. This crank l carries a fork. or pressure-pad, which, when pressed Vdown upon a` plate or table, will' serve to hold down whatever` may be placed under it.

The invehtion'consists also in-- the attachment to said appara-tus ,ofa'pair of springl plates, whiclrserve as egg-ladders;Y A, in the drawing, represents -a frame, made of' metal, wood, `orothe'r suitable material, and provided with a screw, a, or equivalent mechanism, for clamping The frame A is to be fastened to a4 table in frontof vthe stump or shoulder of a person with butnue arm o'r hand. I

Through the4 upper' `partof fthe frame A is fitted a sliding bolt or bar, lB, which is, by means of a spring, b, 'forced toward the outside, as shown,

allows the person `using it to apply pressure tosaid l har, and to push it inwardly.

A` bell-crank, d, is. pivoted toan arm, e, that pro-` jects from the inner side of the frame A, and .carries at its lower arrh a toothed pad or fork, C. v The other arm ot' the bell-crank is slotted, and connected with `the bar B.

When the har B is the bell-crank, and `thereby force the fork C down upon thetable. vllhe' fork'will vthen serve to hold .articles of food 'to be cut,

To the shank of the fork may also be secured, or in its place provided on the bell-crank, a bar, D, with a cushioned end, for holding paper 0r other material in place ou the table, for writing, drawing, &c.
