PLOW.
APPLICATION FILED PEB.28, 1912.

NITE STAES P'IE T OFFIC- BENJAMIN F. FRAZER, OF LAFAYETTE, ALABAMA.
PLOW.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN F. FRAZER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lafayette, in the county of Chambers and State of Alabama, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Plows, of which the following is a specification.
This invent-ion relates to plows and has for an object to provide a plow with him proved mold-board for breaking and pulverizing the soil as it is turned.
A further object of the invention is to provide in a plow a mold-board having spaced fingers forming the delivery end of said mold-board, the fingers being formed by producing slots through the mold-board and turning the edges backward in the rear of such mold-board.
With these and other objects in view the invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully clescribed and claimed.
In the drawings :F igure 1 is a perspective view of a plow embodying the present invention. Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view transversely of the fingers of the moldboard. Fig. 3 is a rear view of one of the fingers.
Like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The improved plow which forms the subjectmatter of this application comprises the usual beam 10, share 11 with a moldboard 12 having slots 13 formed therein pro ducing fingers 14 spaced apart to pulverize the soil as it is being turned at the delivery end of the mold-board.
The fingers 14 are formed by slitting the metal forming the mold-board and turning the edges backwardly as shown at 15, such Specification of Letters Patent.

formation serving to round the forward portion of the fingers to prevent cutting poditions are greatly weakened by the slitting.
The turning back of such edges to strengthen the fingers not only produces a moldbo-ard embodying the strength of an ordinary unslitted mold-board but in fact adds greater strength and rigidity and resistance to pressure and wear of turning than is found in the mold-board of the ordinary construction.
I claim 1. In a plow, a mold-board having a plurality of spaced fingers at the delivery end of the mold-board such fingers being formed by slitting the metal and turning the edges backwardly to produce flanges at the rear of the fingers.
2. In a plow, a mold-board having a plurality of spaced fingers at the delivery end the said fingers embodying flanges turned upon the rear of the fingers and extending in the rear of. the mold-board.
3. In a plow, a mold-board having spaced fingers atthe delivery end thereof said fingers being slitted with the metal extending in the rear of such fingers forming flanges, the flanges increasing in width toward the tapered end of the fingers.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
BENJAMIN F. FRAZER.
