Letters .Pctent'ira 100,545,1dated March 8, 1870.
I MPRO'V'ED MET-POVUNDER, BLOCIK,` AND CHOPPING-BOWL.
"Ir'he Schedule referred to in these Letten; Patent and making part of the same 1,* encuen E; Mm., of the city ef Bue-.1.10, in the 'county of Erie, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Meat-Pounder, Block, and Chopping-Bowl, of which the' following is a` specification.
My invention consists of a combined wooden meat.- poundiug' board and chopping-bowl, the cavity forining lthe bowl being made in theside opposite the `ponnding-surface.
Avis a wooden blockof rectangular or other vsuitable form, and a a. the corrugations on one of its faces, running lengthwiseof the liber. l A l B is a cavity or recess, turned or otherwise dug ont in the opposite side of the block of the ordinary shape of theiuside of a choppiugbowL v Gis the pounder of cylindrical form, terminating in a handle, c, in liue 0f its axis.
Its cylindrical surface is forme-d with corrugations d d, running parallel with its axis and the fiber of the wood.
Running the corrugatious of the -pounder and' block 'lengthwise of the berrenders the-ribs more firm and much less liable yto"-'split oi than if they werecut crossewise or diagonally ofv the same. v
`The pounder and block can be cheaply made, and when used with the eorrugations crossing each other, as represented in Fig. I, they operate efficiently in destroying thecohesion of the muscular ber for which theyare employed.
The cylindrical form `of the pounder enables itsV whole surface to be utilized a's a ponndingface.
The advantages of combining a chopping-bond with a meat-pounding block, in. respect to cheapness and convenience, are obvious.
As anew article of manufacture, the combinedwooden meatpounding block A and chopping-bowl B,
constructed as hereinbefore set forth.
