Abstract

The purpose of present invention provides a liquid crystal aligning agent having excellent stability to storage, a liquid crystal alignment film, a retardation film having said liquid crystal alignment film, a method for preparing the retardation film, and a liquid crystal display element. The said liquid crystal alignment film is prepared by using said liquid crystal aligning agent, and the adhesiveness to substrate film, film hardness, and alignment ability to liquid crystal of said liquid crystal alignment film is excellent even at low temperature treatment, and heat treatment in short time. The liquid crystal aligning agent of present invention comprises [A] a component having epoxy group and hydrogen donor in the same or different molecule, and [B] metal chelate compound. Preferably, the component [A] comprises (a1) a polymer having epoxy group, and (a2) a curing promoter having hydrogen donor.
