Abstract

This invention is an integrated apparatus, which uses both electrical signal detection and optical sensing technology to acquire biosignals, that contains a module interface designed to measure both electrocardiographic signals and photoplethsrnographic ones. Multiple algorithms are processed at the same time to calculate electrocardiographic parameters including, but not limiting to, heart rate, ST segment and QRS. In additions, advanced parameters including, but not limiting to, blood vessel Stiffness Index (SI), blood vessel Reflection Index (RI), Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV), blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) can also be calculated. This design simplifies the traditional methods/equipments to measure blood vessel function. This design also provides a simplified method to understand the physiological conditions of the heart and blood vessels. The apparatus has important application in the diagnosis and prevention of cardiovascular related diseases.
