Description

The proposed method of making balls by electric welding is that the powdered material (metal filings, crushed silicates) is mixed with powdered charcoal and placed in a metal cup. The bottom of the glass, as well as the almost completely enclosed lateral surface, is covered with asbestos (the lower part of it two centimeters from the bottom of the cylinder remains uncovered). The glass is attached to one pole of the source of electric current, to the other pole is attached a carbon electrode attached to a wooden handle, heated with asbestos. In the manufacture of steel balls, a mixture is used in which the weight of the coal powder is about three times the weight of the steel filings.

When the carbon electrode is immersed in powder, a volt arc is formed, first inside the powder, and then on the surface. After one or two minutes, metal filings turn into regular balls of different calibers, ground in a stream of sand and quenched in oil.

According to the inventor, it is possible to prepare twenty kilos of various metal or silicate balls during the working day. Electric current can be taken from the plug of the lighting network with a voltage of 120 volts,
