Abstract

The apparatus (100) for the preparation of peritonal dialysis fluid comprises a water preparation moule (200) which purifies tap water and supplies th purified water to a thermal control and sterilisaion module (300). The thermal control and sterilistion module (300) passes the purified water to a cncentrate mixing module (400), which mixes the purfied water with concentrated components of the diaysis fluid from a disposable concentrate container(402) to produce the peritoneal dialysis fluid. Atleast some of the concentrated components of the dalysis fluid are in powdered form. The peritoneal ialysis fluid is passed from the concentrate mixin module (400) back to the thermal control and sterlisation module (300) where it is sterilised in anon-line autoclave, before being passed to a cyclerand sterilisable connector module (600) for adminitration to the patient (50). The apparatus has theadvantage that the peritoneal dialysis fluid is prpared on-line at a treatment location, such as a ptient's bedroom, to a prescription specific to thepatient.
