Abstract
It is known to heat and ventilate rooms or spaces with the aid of a heating unit (13) e.g. a radiator provided in the room (14) concerned, this room accommodating encasing structures (6) which are made totally or partially of concrete and which incorporate throughflow passages. The room (14) is provided with at least one supply air terminal device (8), which is connected to the passages, and an exhaust air terminal device (9) through which used air is discharged. It is now desired to avoid complicated supply air heating arrangements which require maintenance and careful attention in order to function satisfactorily. The invention therefore provides a room heating unit (13) which is responsible for satisfying the entire heat requirement of the room by directly heating and indirectly heating by waste air heat exchanger (2) and by structures (6), the ventilation air in two stages to a temperature which is close to the desired temperature. In an alternative embodiment, the heating unit (13) is replaced by a heater for heating the air downstream of the structures (6) and upstream of the room. The heat exchanger (2) for transferring heat from waste air to fresh air may be provided with control means enabling the fresh air temperature to be controlled in dependence upon the time of year and prevailing requirements. <IMAGE>
