Abstract

Cleaning machine for treating material with liquid only or with liquid mixed with granules which are heavier than the liquid, comprising a treatment chamber 11 for the material, a pump 13 for circulating the liquid with or without granules as the same is sprayed out through the nozzle 16 onto the material in the treatment chamber, and a collecting reservoir 17, disposed beneath the treatment chamber, for liquid and granules. This reservoir is divided into two compartments, the one of which at the top communicates with the treatment chamber, whilst the other at the top is separated off from the treatment chamber. In order to separate the granules from the liquid in the collecting reservoir before it is sprayed out onto the material for liquid-only treatment, there are arranged between the compartments a bottom chute 18, which communicates with the suction side of the pump, and a partition 24, which allows liquid to flow between the two compartments and can be pivoted about a vertical axis between two end positions so as in the one position to prevent passage of the granules from the said one compartment to the bottom chute and in the other position to allow such passage. <IMAGE>
