Abstract

A telephone unit (App) that can be connected to a telephone line is equipped with receiver and transmitter circuits for audio signals. The receiver circuits are connected to or comprise an IR transmitter (1), which converts the incoming audio signals to IR emissions. A cordless handheld micro-telephone (5) comprises an IR receiver tuned to said emissions. The unit is equipped with microphones (2, 4) that receive the audio signals of the user and forward them via the line. The handheld micro-telephone (5) can also contain an additional IR transmitter and the unit can contain an additional IR receiver through which the user's speech is transferred.<IMAGE>
