Abstract

1296160 Telephone instruments S G BROWN Ltd and T D IBBOTSON 14 May 1971 48177/70 Heading H4J A telephone handset also adapted for use as a headset includes a headband which when the instrument is used as a handset is collapsed and occupies a position alongside the handgrip, and which when the instrument is used as a headband is extended to form a headband. As shown the handset includes two moulded plastics case portions 10 and 13 pivotally secured together at 14 to allow positional adjustment of the microphone. The headband comprises a rigid plastics tube 15 into which metal spring headband portions 16 and 17 may be telescoped. The free end of the portion 16 is adjustably secured to the handset by a ball-and-socket coupling 19. When not required the headband may be telescoped and turned to lie immediately behind the handgrip so as to engage lugs 24 and traps the cable 22 therebetween.
