Abstract

In the device, the mixture constituents are put directly into the drum, the concrete being hardened directly therein after mixing thoroughly. The device consists of a shielded and alpha-tight cell (7) in which the radioactive wastes are handled, as well as of feeder devices for the empty drum (21) to the cell. The aim of such a device is to be able to process medium-level radioactive wastes as well, the idea also being to process plutonium, and, above all, the outside of the drums remaining free from contamination. The device permits this due to the fact that the drum (21) can be pressed from below against the cell and its charging opening can be connected to a further opening (23), situated in the cell floor, of an alpha-tight double-cover system (33). Further advantageous characteristics of the device consist in that two cell openings (23, 24) are provided in the cell floor (25) for the simultaneous connection of two drums (21, 22), and in that each opening (23, 24) is respectively assigned a double-cover system (33, 36) in the cell. In this arrangement, a swivelling device can be used to raise each double cover (33, 36) axially out of the opening (23, 24) and subsequently swivel it to the side. <IMAGE>
