Abstract
1,137,549. Reflex klystrons. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 24 May, 1967 [27 May, 1966], No. 24180/67. Heading H1D. A tunable reflex klystron tube, especially for operation at frequencies exceeding 37À5 Gc/s., comprises a resonant cavity having a movable tuning plate 4 connected by means of a flexible diaphragm 8 with the tube wall 5, and a continuous groove 11 of V-shaped cross-section in the surface of the tuning plate, which latter is displaceable axially of the cavity for tuning and has, apart from the groove, a generally flat surface. Preferably the groove apex angle is 60 degrees and the diameter and depth are respectively equal to, and 10 to 20% of, the minimum wavelength to be tuned.
