Abstract

The invention relates to a process for preparing 1,2-O-isopropylidene-glycerol esters used as fuel additives/components or as ecological solvents. According to the invention, the process consists in treating 1,2-O-isopropylidene-glycerol with 1.3...1.98% potassium hydroxide dissolved in 7.41...11.11% methanol, at a temperature of up to 100°C, while forming an alkoxy catalyst, the reaction mixture being treated with monocarboxylic aliphatic acid methyl esters in a stoichiometric ratio, at a temperature ranging between 85...90°C and 130...135°C, for 180...420 min, after which the reaction mass is cooled, the catalyst is removed and then the resulting raw product is used as such or subjected to distillation under vacuum for additional purification.
