THE FILTER MEDIA INCLUDES A CHARGING DENSITY OF AT LEAST 0.001 MILLIEQUIVALENTS PER GRAM OF FILTRATION MEDIA; II) A VALVE FOR CONTROLLING THE WATER FLOW TOWARDS THE INLET OF SAID HOUSING, WHICH INCLUDES A FIRST OUTLET IN CONNECTION WITH THE INLET OF THE HOUSING AND A SECOND OUTLET; AND III) AN ADAPTER TO JOIN THE VALVE WITH A TAP. A METHOD INCLUDING: 1) REACTING A POLYMER WITH A SUBSTRATE SURFACE TO PROVIDE A COVALENT LINKED FILTRATION MEDIA BETWEEN THE POLYMER AND THE SUBSTRATE SURFACE; AND 2) PASS WATER THROUGH SAID FILTRATION MEDIA TO REMOVE MICROORGANISMS FROM THE WATER
