Abstract

monitoring system configured to monitor operation of a dairy shed or plant is described. The dairy shed or plant includes a dispensing system for dispensing chemicals, having one or more storage reservoirs, each for containing a respective chemical solution. The dispensing system further includes a mixing system, and a dosing system coupled to the one or more storage reservoirs and to a water source, for selectively dispensing one or more of the chemical solutions into the mixing system to form a mixed solution with water from the water source. A user interface is provided for receiving dispensing instructions from a user, and at least one controller is configured to operate the dosing system in accordance with the dispensing instructions. A plurality of sensors arranged to monitor operation of the dairy shed or plant and in communication with the controller, wherein at least one of the plurality of sensors includes at least one sensor configured to measure a property of at least one of the dispensed chemical solutions and/or of the mixed solution. The controller is configured to monitor operation of the dairy shed or plant, based at least in part on data output by the plurality of sensors, determine whether replenishment of a product is required based on monitored operation of the dairy shed or plant, and if required, transmit an order for replenishment of the product to a supplier of the product.
