Abstract

The sun awning with sliding arms folds against the wall on which it is mounted by means of a front profiled section, a coupling rod, and a vertical tube or profiled section. One end of the front section, typically a bar or tube, slides in guides along the latter, while the awning material is fixed to the other end. The coupling rod hinges at one end on the rear section and at attached at the other to the front one. An air-filled spring unit (5) hinges at one end on the coupling rod (4) and at the other on the front section. Alternatively it can be mounted between the rod and the rear section (1). The distance between the hinge point of the front section and the rod and that of the spring and the rod can be less than half the spring stroke. That between the hinge points of rod and spring on front section can be roughly one and half times the spring stroke.
