Abstract

Colour developer contains as coupling regulator:- 1-naphthol, 2,4-dichlor-1-naphthol, 2,4-dibrom-1-naphthol, 2,4-dichlor-5-(p-toluene sulphonamide)-1-naphthol and/or 1,5-dihydroxy-2,6-dibromonaphthalene. The developer is pref. p-phenylene diamine or a derivative. Specifically, the main coupling cpd. is 1-hydroxy-N- 2-(o-propionamidophenyl)ethyl 2 naphthoamide or 1-hydroxy N- 2-(o-acetoamidophenyl) ethyl 2-naphthoamide of formula:- (where R = Me or Et).
