Abstract

La presente invencion se dirige a un proceso para purificar gas natural para proporcionar un producto de gas natural licuado que es substancialmente metano puro. En el proceso una corriente de gas natural se introduce en el intercambio de calor de contracorriente indirecta en un primer intercambiador de calor para enfriar el gas natural por debajo del punto de rocio para enfriar el gas natural por debajo del punto de rocio del etano o hidrocarburos mayores para separar la corriente alimentada en un gas que sea substancialmente metano puro y liquido que contiene el etano y los hidrocarburos superiores. La mezcla liquido/gas se transfiere a un separado en el cual el gas ocupa el espacio superior del separador y el liquido ocupa el fondo del separador. Se retira una fraccion de gas de la parte superior del separador y se introduce en el intercambiador termico de contracorriente con nitrogeno liquido en un segundo intercambiador de calor para licuar el gas de metano substancialmente puro. El nitrogeno liquido se introduce en un tercer intercambiador de calor en donde el nitrogeno liquido se mezcla con una porcion reciclada del vapor de nitrogeno que sale del segundo intercambiador de calor para proporcionar una corriente de nitrogeno liquida para el segundo intercambiador de calor. El vapor de nitrogeno que sale del segundo intercambiador de calor se divide en una porcion reciclada para la introduccion en el tercer intercambiador de calor u una porcion de intercambio termico para la introduccion en el intercambio termico a contracorriente con la corriente de gas natural en el primer intercambiador termico. Una fraccion liquida que contiene C2 e hidrocarburos superior se retira del fondo del separador. La fraccion liquida retirado del fondo del separador se introduce en el intercambiador de calor a contracorriente indirecta con la corriente de gas natural en el primer intercambiador de calor.
