Abstract
Se reivindica un aparato y metodo para recuperar datos transmitidos en un sistema de comunicaciones inalambricas. Se recibe (604) una pluralidad de puntos de senal, comprendiendo el punto de senal una pluralidad de simbolos de modulacion provenientes de una pluralidad de bits codificados. Se determina (608) un primer subconjunto de puntos de senal para el cual un bit es igual a un primer valor y un segundo subconjunto de puntos de senal para el cual el bit es igual a un segundo valor. El primer y segundo subconjuntos son puntos de senal provenientes de una constelacion de senal expandida. La probabilidad de que el bit sea igual al primer valor o al segundo valor se determina como una funcion del punto de senal recibido (612). Puede determinarse entonces un simbolo de decision suave, con base en la probabilidad de que el bit sea igual al primer valor o al segundo valor. Los simbolos de decision suave pueden representarse como tasas de probabilidad logaritmica (616).
