Abstract

Se describe un proceso para recuperar cobre a partir de calcopirita. El proceso incluye oxidar el azufre que se encuentra en la calcopirita con una solucion bajo condiciones de contacto predeterminadas y liberar con lo cual al menos parte del cobre que se encuentra en la calcopirita dentro de la solucion como iones de cobre. El proceso incluye una etapa subsecuente de reduccion de azufre en un producto solido de la etapa (a) a un estado de valencia menos dos, es decir sulfuro, con una solucion bajo condiciones de contacto predeterminadas. El proceso ademas incluye una etapa subsecuente de oxidacion del azufre que se encuentra en el producto solido de la etapa (b) con una solucion bajo condiciones de contacto predeterminadas y liberar con lo cual al menos parte del cobre restante que se encuentra en el producto solido dentro de la solucion como iones de cobre. El proceso ademas incluye recuperar el cobre de una o mas de las soluciones de las etapas (a) y (c).
