Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate and to recover the copper and lead in speiss efficiently by performing electrolysis in a selected aqueous acid soln. by using the speiss at the anode.
CONSTITUTION: The copper and lead in the copper-contg. speiss byproduced in a lead refining process exist in the form of copper arsenide, metallic copper, metallic lead, etc. With said speiss as the anode, electrolysis is performed in an aqueous sulfuric acid soln. wherein an acid other than sulfuric acid which elutes lead, for example, a nitric acid exists. Thereby, copper is electrodeposited on the cathode side, and lead is settled as lead sulfate. At this time, the eluted lead ions react with the sulfuric acid to form lead sulfate without sticking to the anode, and settles in the soln.; therefore the anode does not reduced to non-conducting.
