Abstract

Un material polimérico que comprende grupos éter de cadena principal o grupos alcoxilados de cadena lateral, que es efectivo como un vehículo de aditivos fotocromicos; el material polimérico tiene preferiblemente una temperatura de transicion de vidrio de por lo menos 51.6 degree C y una densidad de entrelazamiento de 2 a 8 moles por litro, más preferiblemente 2.5 a 6 moles por litro; cuando los aditivos fotocromicos se incorporan en dichos materiales, la velocidad de cambio se mantiene a un alto nivel, mientras que el nivel de respuesta fotocromica se hace relativamente insensible a los cambios de temperatura; ejemplos de productosopticos en los que dichos materiales pueden incorporarse incluyen lentes oftálmicos, gafas protectoras, vidrios inastillables, ventanas y parabrisas.
