Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a dispositivos de múltiples celdas fabricados sobre un sustrato común que son más deseables que los dispositivos de una celda, particularmente en aplicaciones fotovoltaicas. Los dispositivos de múltiples celdas funcionan con corrientes más baja, voltajes de salida más altos, y pérdidas de potencia interna menores. Los dispositivos de múltiples celdas de la técnica anterior utilizan aislamiento físico para lograr el aislamiento eléctrico entre las celdas. Con objeto de fabricar un dispositivo de múltiples celdas sobre un sustrato común, las celdas individuales deben aislarse eléctricamente unas de otras. En la técnica anterior, el aislamiento generalmente requería la creación de una barrera física dieléctrica entre las celdas, la cual añade complejidad y costo al proceso de fabricación. La invención descrita logra el aislamiento eléctrico sin el aislamiento físico gracias a la orientación adecuada de las cajas de conexiones entrelazadas de manera tal que los campos de difusión presentes en la región entrelazada impiden esencialmente la formación de una corriente parásita significativa que estaría opuesta a la salida del dispositivo.
