Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para la remoción de anhídrido sulfuroso desde un gas de carga que comprende: (a) absorbes el anhídrido sulfuroso (SO2) en un absorbente acuoso que comprende sulfito soluble; (b) separar el absorbente desde (a) que contiene SO2 absorbido para formar un gas que comprende SO2; (c) absorber el SO2 separado en un absorbente separado para el SO2; y (d) reaccionar el SO2 absorbido desde la etapa (c) en un reactor Claus líquido formando por ello azufre.
