Abstract

본 발명은 고순도 옥시염화지르코늄의 제조방법에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 지르콘 분말과 탄산칼슘을 고온 분해반응시켜 생성된 지르콘산칼슘(CaZrO3)을 진한 염산에 녹이고 황산을 첨가한 뒤 알칼리용액을 첨가하여 염기성 황산지르코늄(Basic Zirconium Sulfate)를 침전시킨 후, 이 침전물에 암모니아를 사용하여 수산화지르코늄으로 전환하고, 이를 염산에 녹여 제조된 옥시염화지르코늄 수용액을 증발농축시킨 다음 진한 염산을 첨가하고 상온으로 냉각시켜 단 한번의 결정화 과정에 의해 고순도의 옥시 염화지르코늄(ZrOCl2·8H2O) 결정을 제조하는 방법에 관한 것이다.
옥시염화지르코늄(Zirconium oxychloride)은 매염제, 코팅제 등의 원료로 광범위하게 사용되고 있으며, 특히 고순도 옥시염화지르코늄의 경우 지르코니아 세라믹스의 필수 원료물질로 사용되고 있다.

Claims (6)

  1. 지르콘(ZrSiO4)을 원료물질로 하여 옥시염화지르코늄(ZrOCl2·8H2O) 결정을 제조하는 방법에 있어서, (a) 지르콘 분말에 탄산칼슘을 첨가하여 고온 분해반응시켜 생성된 지르콘산칼슘(CaZrO3)은 염산으로 침출시켜 얻고, (b)지르콘산칼슘에 황산을 첨가한 다음, 알칼리용액을 첨가하여 생성된 염기성 황산지르코늄 침전물을 여과하여 얻고, (c)염기성황산지르코늄을 물에 분산시키고 암모니아를 첨가하여 제조된 수산화지르코늄 침전물을 여과하여 얻고, (d)수산화지르코늄을 염산에 녹여 제조된 옥시염화지르코늄 수용액은 증발 농축시킨 다음 진한 염산을 첨가하고 상온으로 냉각시켜 석출된 결정을 여과 회수하는 것을 그 특징으로 하는 옥시염화지르코늄(ZrOCl2·8H2O) 결정의 제조방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기(a)과정에서 탄산칼슘은 지르콘 1몰에 대하여 2∼3몰비로 사용하는 것을 특징으로 하는 옥시염화지르코늄 결정의 제조방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 (b)과정에서 황산은 용액중의 지르코늄 이온 5몰에 대하여 2몰비로 사용하는 것을 특징으로 하는 옥시염화지르코늄 결정의 제조방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 (b)과정에서 알칼리용액은 암모니아, 수산화나트륨 및 수산화칼륨 중에서 선택된 1종 이상의 것을 용액의 pH가 1.4∼2.0 범위로 되도록 첨가하는 것을 특징으로 하는 옥시염화지르코늄 결정의 제조방법
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 (c)과정에서 암모니아는 용액의 pH가 8∼10의 범위로 되도록 첨가하는 것을 특징으로 하는 옥시염화지르코늄 결정의 제조방법.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 (d)과정에서 진한 염산을 첨가한 용액은 지르코늄 이온의 농도가 85∼150g/ℓ 이고염산의 농도가 150∼300g/ℓ 의 범위로 되도록 조절하는 것을 특징으로 하는 옥시염화지르코늄 결정의 제조방법.
