- 각각의 연소실용으로, 연소실로 들어간 공기의 깨끗한 충진물이 통하는 적어도 한개의 유입구 포트와, 연소실로부터 배출 시스템으로 지나가는 가스가 통과하는 배출 포트와, 연료를 연소실로 공급하기 위한 수단이 제공되며, 유입구 및 배출 포트는 유입구 포트가 배출 포트의 폐쇄에 앞서 개방되도록 배치되어 있는, 2행정 사이클 내연기관 작동 방법에 있어서, 각 연소실의 배출 포트 개방 기간동안, 배출 포트 개방 기간동안에 연소실로부터 배출되는 가스의 제 1 부분은 제 1 촉매 특성의 제 1 촉매 수단과 접촉하도록 향해지고, 상기 동일한 배출 포트 개방 기간에 상기 연소실로부터 배출되는 가스의 연소 제 2 부분은 제 1 촉매 수단에 다른 촉매 특성의 제 2 촉매 수단이 접촉하도록 향해지는 것을 특징으로 하는 2행정 사이클 내연기관 작동 방법.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 제 1 촉매 수단은 가스의 제 1 부분에서 질소 산화물을 환원시키도록 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항중 어느 한항에 있어서, 제 2 촉매 수단은 가스의 제 2 부분에서 탄화수소나 일산화탄소를 산화시키도록 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 2 항에 있어서, 배출 가스의 제 1 부분은 제 1 부분이 기관으로부터 다른 배출 가스와 혼합되기 전에 그리고 연소실로부터 배출한 후에 제 1 촉매 수단과 직접 접촉하게 되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.

- 제 5 항 또는 제 6 항에 있어서, 배출 가스의 제 1 부분의 상기 부분은 제 2 촉매 수단과 직접 접촉하게 될때 배출 가스의 제 2 부분의 싣게 되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 연소실로 연료를 공급하도록 각 연소실 수단을 가지며, 배출 포트를 연소실로부터 배출 시스템으로 가스가 통과하고, 최소 한개의 입구 포트는 연소실로 들어온 공기의 깨끗한 충진물이 통과하고, 입구 및 배출 포트는 입력 포트가 배출 포트를 폐쇄 하기 전에 개방하기 위하여 배열되는 2행정 사이클 내연기관에 있어서, 배출 포트 개방 주기동안 연소실로부터 배출된 가스의 제 1 부분을 수용하도록 위치된 제 1 촉매 특성의 제 1 촉매 수단과, 제 1 촉매 수단과 다른 촉매 특성이며 제 1 부분의 배출로써 동일 배출 포트 개방 주기에서 개시 다음에 연소실로부터 배출된 가스의 제 2 부분을 수용하기 위한 제 2 촉매 수단을 배출 시스템내에 제공하게 되는 것을 특징으로 하는 2행정 사이클 내연기관.
- 제 8 항에 있어서, 제 1 촉매 수단은 환원 수단을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.
- 제 8 항에 있어서, 제 2 촉매 수단은 산화 수단을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.
- 제 8 항, 제 9 항 또는 제 10 항에 있어서, 제 2 촉매 수단은 입구 포트가 개방된 후 그리고 배출 포트가 개방되는 동안 연소실로부터 배출된 배출 가스를 수용하도록 위치하는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.

- 제 13 항에 있어서, 제 2 촉매 수단은 배출 포트로부터 연장한 통로내에 위치하며, 제 2 촉매 수단의 단부는 그들로부터 하류에 간격진 배출 포트에 인접하는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.
- 제 12 항에 있어서, 제 1 촉매 수단은 공동의 폐쇄 단부가 제 1 촉매 수단의 인접 단부 사이에 형성된 실을 구비하며, 다른 단부에서 폐쇄되고 배출 포트를 갖는 한 단부와 연통한 공동내에 위치하는 것을 특징으로 하는 내연기관.
