제1도는 본 발명에 따라 제조된 편광 필터의 평면도이다. 제2도는 제1도에 따른 편광필터를 함유하는 본 발명에 따른 액정 디스플레이의 횡단면도이다.

Claims (5)

  1. 액정 단량체와 이색 착색제의 혼합물을 기질상에 배향시키고, 단량체를 균일한 방사선에 노출시켜 중합시키는 편광필터의 제조방법에 있어서, 단량체로서 일반식(1) 화합물을 사용함을 특징으로 하는 방법.
    상기식에서, B는 브리지 그룹이고, R은 수소 원자 또는 메틸 그룹이며, M은 단량체가 전체적으로 네마틱 또는 스멕틱상을 가지도록, 하나 이상의 페닐 그룹 및/또는 사이클로헥실 그룹을 함유하는 메소게닉 그룹이다.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 일반식(2)의 단량체를 사용함을 특징으로 하는 방법.
    상기식에서, m은 1내지 15이고, n은 0 또는 1이며, R은 수소원자 또는 메틸 그룹이고, P는 그룹또는 그룹이다.
  3. 제1항 또는 2항에 있어서, 기질에 적용된 액정 단량체와 이색 착색제의 혼합물을 외부장의 힘, 특히 자기장 또는 전기장의 영향하에 방향지음(배향시킴)을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  4. 이색 착색제가 혼입된 배향되고 중합된 단량체층의 한면상에 기질이 제공되고, 상기 단량체가 일반식(1)의 화합물임을 특징으로 하는, 제1항에 따른 방법을 사용하여 수득되는 편광필터.
    상기식에서, B는 브리지 그룹이고, R은 수소원자 또는 메틸 그룹이며, M은 단량체가 전체적으로 네마틱 또는 스메틱상을 가지도록 , 하나 이상의 페닐 그룹 및/ 또는 사이클로헥실 그룹을 함유하는 메소게닉 그룹이다.
  5. 서로 평행하게 연장되고 시일(seal)에 의해 가장 자리가 서로 연결된 2개의 투명한 벽부분(여기서, 각각의 벽부분에는 안쪽에 하나 이상의 투명한 전극 및 벽부분에 의해 경계된 스페이스가 제공되며 시일은 액정 매질을 함유한다)을 함유하는 액정 디스플레이에 있어서, 이색 착색제가 혼입된 배향되고 중합된 액정 단량체층을 함유하는 편광 필터가 2개의 벽부분중 적어도 하나위에 제공되고, 상기 단량체가 일반식(1) 화합물을 특징으로 하는 액정디스플레이.
    상기식에서, B는 브리지 그룹이고, R은 수소원자 또는 메틸 그룹이며, M은 단량체가 전체적으로 네마틱 또는 스메틱상을 가지도록, 적어도 하나의 페닐 그룹 및/또는 사이클로헥실그룹을 함유하는 메소게닉 그룹이다.
