Description

채널-형상 연결 부재와 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재의 용접에 의한 연결 방법{METHOD FOR CONNECTING BY WELDING STRUCTURAL SANDWICH PLATE MEMBERS WITH CHANNEL-SHAPED CONNECTING MEMBERS}
본 발명은, 2개의 외측 플레이트 및 상기 외측 플레이트에 충분한 강도로 접합된 플라스틱 또는 폴리머 재료로 된 코어를 포함하며, 부재의 구조적 강도에 실질적으로 기여하는 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들(structural sandwich plate members)을 연결하는 방법에 관한 것이다.
구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들은 US 5,778,813 및 US 6,050,208에 개시되어 있고, 이 문서들은 본 명세서에서 인용 참조되며, 비포밍(unfoamed) 폴리우레탄으로 된 중간 엘라스토머 코어와 함께 접합되는 외측 금속, 예를 들어 강(steel)의 플레이트들을 포함한다. 이들 샌드위치 플레이트 시스템들은, 강화 강 프레이트들(stiffened steel plates)을 대체하고 결과적인(resultant) 구조체들을 크게 단순화시켜, 강도 및 구조적 성능(강성(stiffness), 댐핑 특성들)은 향상시키면서도 무게를 줄일 수 있어, 여러 형태의 구조에 사용될 수 있다. 이들 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들의 또 다른 발전형태들은, 역시 본 명세서에서 인용 참조되는 국제특허출원 WO 01/32414에 개시되어 있다. 상술된 바와 같이, 폼 형태는 무게를 줄이기 위해 코어 층에 채용될 수도 있으며, 횡방향 금속 전단 플레이트가 부가되어 강성을 높일 수도 있다.
WO 01/32414의 교시에 따르면, 폼 형태들은 중공 또는 솔리드 중 어느 하나일 수 있다. 중공 형태는 보다 더 무게가 저감되며 따라서 이점이 있다. 본 명세서에 기술되는 형태들은 경량 폼으로 만들어지는 것으로만 한정되지 않으며, 나무 또는 강 박스들과 같은 여타 재료들로 만들어질 수도 있다.
국제특허출원 WO 02/078948은 중공 형태들을 포함하는 개념의 보다 진전된 발전형태이며, 제조 및 조립이 용이한 형태, 특히 스냅-투게더(snap-together) 피스들로 만들어진 중공의 세장형(elongate) 형태를 기술하고 있다.
2개(또는 그 이상)의 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들을 연결하기 위하여, 국제특허출원 PCT/GB02/00157에 개시된 것과 같은 롤링 또는 압출된 부재들이 사용될 수도 있다. 이들 부재들은 폭넓은 형태의 결합(join)을 포괄하나, 각각의 상이한 구성의 플레이트 부재들은 상이한 결합 부재(joining member)를 필요로 한다. 영국특허출원 GB-2 380 970-A는, 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재의 페이스플레이트(faceplate)들 사이에서 돌출되어 나온 바아의 일부를 갖는 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재의 주변부에 용접된 8각형 단면의 솔리드 바 형태의 유니버셜 커넥터를 개시하고 있다. 이러한 커넥터들을 구비한 2개(또는 그 이상)의 플레이트는 여러 상이한 방식으로 함께 용접될 수 있다. 이 커넥터는 여러 상이한 구성으로 플레이트 부재들을 결합하기 위해 여러 상이한 부재들을 필요로 하는 문제점을 해결해 주지만 상대적으로 무겁다.

본 발명의 목적은 플레이트 부재들을 함께 결합시키기 위하여 단일의 경량 커넥터를 사용하는 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들을 연결시키는 방법을 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명에 따르면, 2개의 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재를 연결시키는 방법이 제공되는데, 이들 각각의 플레이트 부재는 2개의 외측 플레이트와, 그들 사이의 전단력을 전달하기에 충분한 강도로 상기 외측 플레이트에 접합되는 플라스틱 또는 폴리머 재료로 된 코어를 포함하며, 상기 방법은:
결합될 상기 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들의 에지들에서, 그들 각각의 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들의 외측 플레이트들의 단부들 사이에서 피팅되고, 그단부들을 넘어 돌출되는 채널-형상의 연결 부재들을 제공하는 단계;
상기 에지들이 맞댐되거나 거의 맞댐되어 결합 되도록 상기 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들을 함께 배치시키는 단계; 및
상기 2개의 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들의 외측 플레이트들간의 용접을 형성하는 단계를 포함한다.
연결 부재는 채널-형상인 것이 바람직하다. 연결 부재의 볼록한 측면은 두 외측 플레이트들 사이에서 돌출된다. 플레이트 부재들이 맞댐되는 경우, 연결 부재는 2개의 플레이트 부재들의 외측 플레이트와 이격되어, 전체 두께의 용접이 형성되고 상기 용접에 대한 백킹 바아(backing bar)로서의 역할을 하도록 한다.
또한, 본 발명은,
2개의 외측 플레이트;
상기 부재의 구조적 강도에 실질적으로 기여할 수 있도록 상기 외측 플레이트들에 충분한 강도로 접합되는 플라스틱 또는 폴리머 재료로 된 코어; 및

본 발명의 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재의 외측 플레이트들의 재료, 크기 및 일반적인 특성들(properties)은, 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재가 사용될 특별한 용도에 대한 필요에 따라 선택될 수도 있고 일반적으로 US-5,778,813 및 US-6,050,208에 개시된 바와 같이 이루어질 수도 있다. 강 또는 스테인리스 강은 통상적으로 0.5 내지 20mm의 두께로 사용되며, 경량의 무게가 바람직할 경우에는 알루미늄이 사용될 수도 있다. 이와 유사하게, 플라스틱 또는 폴리머 코어는 어떠한 적합한 재료, 예를 들어 US-5,778,813 및 US-6,050,208에 개시된 바와 같이 폴리우레탄과 같은 엘라스토머일 수도 있다.
WO 01/32414 및 WO 02/078948에 개시된 바와 같이 경량 형태들이 코어에 포함될 수도 있다. 경량의 형태들은 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재의 질량을 줄이는 역할을 하며 그것의 구조적 강도에 크게 기여할 필요는 없다. 경량 형태와 관련된 주된 요건들은, 그들이 코어를 형성하는 플라스틱 또는 폴리머 재료보다 낮은 밀도록 이루어지고, 플라스틱이나 폴리머 코어의 사출(injection) 및 경화(curing)시 원하는 형상을 유지하기에 충분한 열적 및 기계적 특성들을 갖도록 하는 것이다. 코어내의 형태들의 레이아웃은 2002년 5월 29일에 출원된 영국특허출원 GB-2 389 072-A에 개시된 바와 같이 이루어질 수도 있다.
도 1에 도시된 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재(10,20) 각각은, 강으로 이루어지고, 예를 들어 0.5 내지 20mm 범위내의 두께를 갖는 상부 및 하부 외측 플레이트(페이스플레이트)들(11,12,21,22)을 포함한다. 에지 플레이트들은 폐쇄된 캐비티를 형성하기 위하여 그들의 외측 주변부 주위의 페이스플레이트들(11,12,21,22) 사이에서 용접된다. 페이스플레이트들(11,12,21,22) 사이의 캐비티에는, 콤팩트(즉, 비포밍) 플라스틱 또는 폴리머 재료, 바람직하게는 폴리우레탄 엘라스토머의 코어(13,23)가 있다. 이 코어는 15 내지 200mm 범위의 두께를 가질 수 있다. 코어(13,23)는 페이스플레이트들(11,12,21,22)에 충분한 강도로 접합되며 두 페이스플레이트들 사이에서의 사용시 예측되는 전단력을 전달하기에 충분한 기계적 특성들을 갖는다. 코어(13,23)와 페이스플레이트들(11,12,21,22)간의 접합 강도는 3MPa, 바람직하게는 6MPa보다는 커야 하며, 코어 재료의 탄성계수는 250MPa보다 커야한다. 통상적인 사용 및 점유(occupancy) 부하가 1.4kPa 내지 7.2kPa 정도인 플로어 패널과 같은 낮은 부하의 적용례의 경우에, 접합 강도는, 예를 들어 대략 1MPa 정도로 낮을 수 있다. 코어층의 도움으로, 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재는 실질적으로 보다 두꺼운 플레이트 두께를 가지며 상당히 부가적으로 강화된, 강화 강 플레이트의 강도 및 부하 지탱 능력을 갖는다.
구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재(10)의 무게를 저감하기 위하여, 경량 형태의 어레이가 제공되어, 플레이트 부재의 내부 볼륨의 실질적인 부분을 점할 수도 있다. 상기 경량 형태들은 플레이트의 구조적 강도에 충분히 기여할 필요는 없으며, 그들은 단지, 코어(13)를 형성하기 위한 재료의 사출 압력 및 경화 동안의 코어의 방열 반응(exothermic reaction)으로부터의 열을 견디기에 충분한 열적 및 기계적 특성들만을 필요로 한다.
구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들 중 하나가 같은 형태의 다른 플레이트 부재와 결합되는 에지를 따라, 에지 부재는 내부를 향하여 오목한 측면을 갖는 페이스플레이트들(11,12,21,22) 사이에 피팅되는 채널 섹션(14,24)의 형태를 취한다. 베이스부(14a,24a) 및 코너부(14b,14c,24b,24c)는, 2개의 플레이트 부재들이 서로에 대하여 맞닿는 경우, 플레이트 부재들(11a,21a 및 12a,22a)의 단부들 사이에 형성되고 코너부들(14b,24b 및 14c,24c)에 의해 경계지워지는 공간들이 있도록, 2개의 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들의 페이스플레이트들의 단부(11a,12a,21a,22a)의 바깥쪽으로 돌출된다. 2개의 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들(10,20)을 결합하기 위하여, 각각의 상기 공간들에 용접부(31,32)가 형성된다. 이에 의해, 페이스플레이트들간의 직접적인 연결은 신속하고 간단하게 달성된다. 코너부들(14b,c 및 24b,c)은 이 용접부의 용접 예비부(preparation)로서 작용한다.

연결 부재가 만일 페이스플레이트들과 충분한 강도로 연결된다면, 결합의 영역에서 플레이트 부재의 강도에 크게 기여할 수 있다. 이는, 페이스플레이트들간의 용접으로부터의 열이 엘라스토머 코어에 손상을 가하는 경우에도 플레이트 부재가 충분한 강도를 가질 수 있도록 한다. 이 경우에, 연결 부재는, 하나의 패스 시일 용접부(pass seal welds:33)에 의해 페이스플레이트들에 용접될 수 있다.

Claims (11)

  1. 2개의 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들을 연결하는 방법에 있어서,
    상기 부재들 각각은, 2개의 외측 플레이트와, 그들 사이의 전단력들을 전달하기 위하여 및 상기 외측 플레이트들에 충분한 강도로 접합되는 플라스틱 또는 폴리머 재료로 된 코어를 포함하고, 상기 방법은:
    결합될 상기 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들의 에지들에서, 그들 각각의 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들의 외측 플레이트들의 단부들 사이에서 피팅되고, 그단부들을 넘어 돌출되는 채널-형상의 연결 부재들을 제공하는 단계;
    상기 에지들이 맞댐되거나 거의 맞댐되어 결합 되도록 상기 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들을 함께 배치시키는 단계; 및
    상기 2개의 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들의 외측 플레이트들간의 용접부를 형성하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 연결 부재들은 채널-형상인 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  3. 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 제공 단계에서, 상기 연결 부재들은 그것의 코너에 대한 접선들이 상기 외측 플레이트들의 단부를 통과하도록 위치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  4. 제1항 내지 제3항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 제공 단계에서, 상기 연결 부재들은 일-패스 시일 용접에 의해 상기 외측 플레이트들에 용접되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  5. 제1항 내지 제4항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 제공 단계에서, 상기 연결 부재들은 상기 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재들을 함께 배치하는 단계 및 용접부를 형성하는 단계와는 상이한 사이트에서 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  6. 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재에 있어서,
    2개의 외측 플레이트;
    상기 부재의 구조적 강도에 실질적으로 기여할 수 있도록 상기 외측 플레이트들에 충분한 강도로 접합되는 콤팩트 플라스틱 또는 폴리머 재료로 된 코어; 및
    그 사이에서 피팅되고, 상기 외측 플레이트들의 단부를 넘어 돌출되며, 같은 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재에 같은 연결 부재로 접합되도록 되어 있는 1이상의 연결 부재를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재.
  7. 제6항에 있어서,
    상기 연결 부재는 채널-형상인 것을 특징으로 하는 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재.
  8. 제7항에 있어서,
    상기 연결 부재들의 코너에 대한 접선들은 상기 외측 플레이트들의 단부들을 통과하는 것을 특징으로 하는 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재.
  9. 제6항 내지 제8항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 연결 부재 코너들의 곡률 반경은 상기 연결 부재 두께의 2배 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재.
  10. 제6항 내지 제9항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 연결 부재는 일-패스 시일 용접들에 의해 상기 외측 플레이트에 고정되는 것을 특징으로 하는 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재.
  11. 제6항 내지 제10항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 연결 부재는 롤링된 금속으로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 구조 샌드위치 플레이트 부재.
