Claims (26)
- 디스플레이 픽셀 어레이를 포함하는 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스로서, 각 픽셀은,전류 구동 발광 디스플레이 소자(2);상기 디스플레이 소자(2)를 통하는 전류를 구동시키기 위한 구동 트랜지스터(22);상기 구동 트랜지스터(22)를 어드레싱하기 위해 사용될 전압을 저장하기 위한 저장 커패시터(30);상기 저장 커패시터(30)를 방전시켜 상기 구동 트랜지스터를 스위치 오프하기 위한 방전 트랜지스터(36); 및상기 디스플레이 소자(2)의 광 출력에 따라 상기 방전 트랜지스터(36)에 인가된 게이트 전압을 바꿈으로써 상기 방전 트랜지스터의 작동 타이밍을 제어하기 위한 광 의존 디바이스(38)를 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 광 의존 디바이스(38)는 상기 방전 트랜지스터(36)를 오프 상태에서 온 상태로 스위칭하는 타이밍을 제어하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 또는 제 2항에 있어서,상기 광 의존 디바이스(38)는 방전 포토다이오드를 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 또는 제2 항 또는 제3 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,방전 커패시터(40)가 상기 방전 트랜지스터(36)의 게이트와 일정한 전압 라인 사이에 제공되고, 상기 광 의존 디바이스(38)는 상기 방전 커패시터(40)를 충전하거나 방전시키기 위한 것인, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제4 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀은 픽셀로의 입력과 데이터 신호 라인(6) 사이에 연결된 어드레스 트랜지스터(16)를 더 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제5 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 구동 트랜지스터(22)는 전원 라인(26)과 상기 디스플레이 소자(2) 사이에 연결되는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제6 항에 있어서,상기 저장 커패시터(30)는 상기 구동 트랜지스터(22)의 게이트와 소스 사이에 연결되는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제7 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀은 상기 구동 트랜지스터(22)의 게이트와 충전 라인(32) 사이에 연결된 충전 트랜지스터(34)를 더 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제8 항에 있어서,상기 충전 라인은 상기 디스플레이 소자(2)와 상기 구동 트랜지스터(22)에 전력을 공급하는 전원 라인(26)을 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제9 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀은 상기 구동 트랜지스터(22)의 소스와 측로 라인(44) 사이에 연결된 측로 트랜지스터(42)를 더 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제9 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀은 상기 구동 트랜지스터와 직렬로 연결된 차단 트랜지스터(62)를 더 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제7 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀은, 각각이 상기 저장 커패시터(30)와 상기 방전 커패시터(36)의 게이트 중 하나와 상기 데이터 신호 라인(6) 사이에 연결되는, 제1 및 제2 어드레스 트랜지스터(16a, 16b)를 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제12 항에 있어서,상기 제1 및 제2 어드레스 트랜지스터 중 하나(16a)는 n형 트랜지스터이며 나머지(16b)는 p형 트랜지스터인, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제10 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀의 상기 트랜지스터는 무정형 실리콘 n형 트랜지스터를 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제9 항 또는 제11 항 내지 제13 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀의 상기 트랜지스터는 폴리실리콘 트랜지스터를 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제9 항 또는 제11 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀의 상기 트랜지스터는 p형 폴리실리콘 트랜지스터를 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제9 항 또는 제11 항 내지 제13 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀의 상기 트랜지스터는 마이크로크리스털라인 트랜지스터를 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제 17 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀은 상기 구동 트랜지스터(22)의 임계 전압을 저장하기 위한 임계 전압 저장 커패시터(82)를 포함하되, 상기 임계 전압 저장 커패시터(82)는 상기 구동 트랜지스터의 게이트와 소스 사이에서 상기 저장 커패시터(30)와 직렬로 있는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제18 항에 있어서,각 픽셀은 상기 임계 커패시터(82)가 충전되는 것을 가능하게 하는 트랜지스터(84)를 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제19 항에 있어서,각 픽셀은 상기 방전 트랜지스터(36)를 턴 온 시키기 위한 트랜지스터(86)를 더 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제20 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 방전 트랜지스터(36)의 게이트 절연체(102)가 상기 구동 트랜지스터(22)의 게이트 절연체(100,102)보다 더 얇은, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제21 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 방전 트랜지스터(36)의 게이트 절연체(102)가 픽셀의 입력과 데이터 신호 라인 사이에 연결된 어드레스 트랜지스터(16)의 게이트 절연체보다 더 얇은, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제22 항에 있어서,상기 구동 트랜지스터(22)의 게이트 절연체가 제1 및 제2 게이트 절연층(100,102)을 포함하고, 상기 어드레스 트랜지스터(16)의 게이트 절연체가 상기 제1 및 제2 게이트 절연층 중 하나(102)만 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제23 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,각 픽셀은 상기 방전 트랜지스터(36)의 임계 전압을 저장하기 위한 임계 저장 커패시터(120)를 더 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 제1 항 내지 제24 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,상기 전류 구동 발광 디스플레이 소자(2)는 전계발광 디스플레이 소자를 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스.
- 각 픽셀이 구동 트랜지스터(22)와 전류 구동 발광 디스플레이 소자(2)를 포함하는, 디스플레이 픽셀 어레이를 포함하는 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스를 구동시키기 위한 방법으로서, 픽셀의 각 어드레싱을 위해 상기 방법은,구동 전압을 픽셀의 입력에 인가하는 단계;상기 구동 전압으로부터 유도되는 전압을 방전 커패시터(40)에 저장하는 단계;저장 커패시터(30) 상의 전압을 사용해서 상기 구동 트랜지스터(22)를 구동시키는 단계;상기 디스플레이 소자(2)의 광 출력에 의해 조명된 광 의존 디바이스(38)를 통과하는 전하 흐름을 사용해서 방전 트랜지스터(36)를 스위치 온 하는 단계로서, 상기 전하 흐름은 상기 방전 커패시터(40)를 충전하거나 방전시키는, 스위치 온 단계; 및상기 방전 트랜지스터(36)를 사용해서 상기 저장 커패시터(30)를 방전시켜 상기 구동 트랜지스터를 턴 오프하는, 저장 커패시터(30) 방전 단계를 포함하는, 능동 매트릭스 디스플레이 디바이스를 구동시키기 위한 방법.
