Abstract

본 발명의 목적은 보안 모듈이 브로드캐스팅 네트워크에 접속된 사용자 유닛에서 신규 모듈로 대체될 때 보안 모듈의 특정 정보를 복구할 수 있도록 하는 것이다.
상기 목적은 전송을 위해 의도된 상기 제1 보안 모듈에 포함된 특정 정보를 결정하는 단계; 상기 정보를 사용자 유닛에 전달하는 단계; 상기 정보를 사용자 유닛에 저장하는 단계; 상기 제2 보안 모듈로 제1 보안 모듈을 대체하는 단계; 전송 네트워크 상에 사용자 유닛을 접속하는 단계; 상기 제2 보안 모듈과 관리 센터 사이의 통신을 초기화하는 단계; 상기 제2 보안 모듈에 의해 전송된 블록 내에 사용자 유닛에 의해 데이터 블록을 삽입하는 단계를 포함하며, 상기 데이터 블록이 상기 제1 보안 모듈의 식별자 및 상기 제1 보안 모듈에 특정한 데이터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는, 고유 식별자 및 자체 기능의 정보 표본을 포함하고, 제2 보안 모듈로 대체될 수 있는 사용자 유닛에 접속된 제1 보안 모듈에 의해 발생된 정보의 전송 및 저장 방법에 의해 달성된다.

Description

보안 모듈에 의해 생성된 데이터 전송 및 저장 방법{METHOD FOR STORING AND TRANSMITTING DATA GENERATED BY A SECURITY MODULE}
본 발명은 브로드캐스팅 센터에 연결된 장치들의 네트워크에서 임의의 영구 리턴 접속없이 데이터를 전송하는 영역에 관한 것이다.
유료-TV 네트워크에서, 사용자들의 장치는 종종 관리 센터로부터 제어 신호를 수신하고, 상기 신호는 브로드캐스팅된 데이터에 대한 엑세스 보안의 관리를 허용한다.
복잡한 메카니즘들이 개발되어 다양한 개별 기능들이 관리 센터에 접속하지 않고 엑세스될 수 있다.
상기 메카니즘들 중, 선택 이벤트에 자유롭게 할당될 크레디트(credit)의 존재로 인해 컨텐츠로의 엑세스 요구가 있는 즉시 인용할 수 있다.
"컨텐츠"는 주식-교환. 날씨 예보, 일반적인 텔레비젼, 스포츠 이벤트 등에 관한 정보 서비스로서 이해된다. 상기 컨텐츠는 유료-TV 디코더, 컴퓨터 또는 심지어 모바일폰, 팜탑, PDA, 라디오, 텔레비젼 또는 멀티미디어 단말기 등과 같은 특정 사용자의 유닛으로 브로드캐스팅될 수 있다.
디지털 플로우는 그 사용을 제어하고 그러한 사용에 대한 특정 조건을 규정할 수 있도록 암호화된다. 상기 암호화는 제어 워드에 의해 이루어지는데, 제어 워드는 상기 제어 워드를 찾으려고 하는 임의의 공격을 단념시키도록 일정한 간격(5초 와 30초 사이)으로 변경된다.
사용자 유닛은 보안 모듈을 포함하며, 이는 일반적으로 착탈가능하고, 권한의 검증 및 디코더가 전송된 데이터에 엑세스하는데 필요한 키(제어 워드)의 복호화와 같은 보안 동작을 관리한다.
상기 컨텐츠의 사용에 대한 요금계산(accounting)은 오늘날 가입 또는 이벤트 구입의 원리에 기초한다. 가입은 하나 이상의 브로드캐스팅 채널과 관련된 권한의 규정을 허용하고 사용자의 보안 유닛에 권한이 존재한다면 자유로이 사용자가 상기 채널에 엑세스하는 것을 허용한다.
동시에, 영화 또는 축구 경기와 같은 특정 컨텐츠에 대한 권한을 규정하는 것이 가능하다. 사용자는 상기 권한을 획득(예를 들어 구매)할 수 있고 상기 컨텐츠는 상기 권한에 의해 특별히 관리된다. 상기 방법은 충동 구매(주문형 유료 채널 PPV)라는 용어로 공지되어 있다.
제어 워드의 복호화 동안, 엑세스 조건과 관련된 권한이 보안 모듈에 존재하는지 여부가 검증된다.
비교가 긍정적이면, 제어 워드는 사용자 유닛으로 보통 문자로(in clear) 리턴된다.
일부 사용자의 유닛은 사용자의 선택을 전달하여 특정 선택에 관한 권한을 획득하는 백채널(back channel)을 구비한다. 상기 채널은 전화선 또는 네트워크에 접속된 모뎀이 일반적이다. 일부 개인들은 컨텐츠의 실제 소비에 대한 임의의 형태의 감시를 싫어하기 때문에, 케이블은 전화선 소켓에 간단히 연결되지 않고 데이터는 관리 센터에 전송되지 않는다. 상기 접속은 예를 들어 전화선 소켓이 TV 세트로부터 너무 멀다는 등의 현실적인 이유로 실행되지 않을 수 있다.
신규 고객에 대한 보안 모듈을 설치할 때, 크레디트(credit)는 고객이 충동 구매의 실현성을 테스트하도록 허용하여 통상 그에게 책임을 돌린다. 상기 크레디트는 전혀 사용되지 않을 수 있기 때문에, 고객에게 인보이스를 발송하지 않는다.
통상적인 동작 조건에서, 사용자는 하나 또는 두개의 영화를 상기 크레디트로 구입하고 자신의 사용자 유닛을 재로딩을 위해 접속한다. 이 때, 관리 센터는 구입된 두개의 영화에 대한 인보이스를 작성하고 사용자가 미리 동의한 양으로 모듈을 재로딩한다.
관리 센터는 사용자가 그 유닛을 네트워크에 접속할 때까지 상기 초기 크레디트에 대해 수행된 소비액을 인보이스할 수 없다. 상기 방법에서, 모든 보안 유닛에 대한 인보이스되지 않은 크레디트의 전체 양은 상당할 수 있다.
가격의 분포에 의해 사용자가 그들의 유닛에 접속하도록 유도하는 게임의 제안과 같은 행동이 취해져 왔다.
보안 모듈의 교환이 수행될 때 결정적으로 일어나는 문제점은 일반적으로 기술적인 발전 이유에 관한 것이다. 오퍼레이터는 사용자가 적시에 상기 교환을 수행할 때 만족되고 사용자가 자신의 구 카드를 인보이싱 서비스의 목적으로 반환하도록 의무화하는 것은 어렵다. 상기 방법에서, 크레디트는 분실된 것으로 간주된 종전의 모듈에 포함된 요금계산 데이터를 사용한다.

본 발명의 목적은 보안 모듈에 대한 크레디트의 사용에 관한 정보를 복구하여 상기 정보를 관리 센터에 전송하는 것이다.
상기 목적은 고유 식별자 및 자체 기능의 정보 표본(information representative)을 포함하고, 제2 보안 모듈로 대체될 수 있는 사용자 유닛에 접속된 제1 보안 모듈에 의해 발생된 정보의 전송 및 저장 방법에 의해 달성되며, 상기 방법은:
전송을 위해 의도된 상기 제1 보안 모듈에 포함된 특정 정보를 결정하는 단계;
상기 정보를 사용자 유닛에 전달하는 단계;
상기 정보를 사용자 유닛에 저장하는 단계;
상기 제2 보안 모듈로 제1 보안 모듈을 대체하는 단계;
전송 네트워크 상에 사용자 유닛을 접속하는 단계;
상기 제2 보안 모듈과 관리 센터 사이의 통신을 초기화하는 단계;
상기 제2 보안 모듈에 의해 전송된 블록 내에 사용자 유닛에 의해 데이터 블록을 삽입하는 단계를 포함하며, 상기 데이터 블록이 상기 제1 보안 모듈의 식별자 및 상기 제1 보안 모듈에 특정한 데이터를 포함한다.
상기 방법은 제2 보안 모듈에 의해 관리 센터와의 접속이 이루어진 동안 제1 보안 모듈 내 데이터의 복구를 허용한다.
상기 보안 모듈 교환은 신규 모듈을 초기화하기 위해 접속을 요구하는 기회를 나타낸다.
특정 정보는 국부적으로 발생되어 관리 센터에 공지되지 않은 모든 데이터를 나타낸다. 충동 구매에 대한 정보에 추가로, 보안 모듈 기능의 버전과 관련된 정보 및 사용자 유닛 또는 디코더의 실제 사용에 대한 몇가지 통계적인 카운터가 존재한다.
상기 접속 동안, 디코더는 식별체계(identification)가 보안 모듈로부터 기원한 다른 블록과 상이한 데이터 블록을 구성한다. 블록은 보안 모듈의 고유 번호를 포함하는 헤더에 의해 구성되고 데이터는 일반적으로 모든 보안 유닛에 공통인 전송 키 또는 보안 모듈에 관한 개인 키(personal key) 중의 하나인 키에 의해 암호화된다. 상기 키는 대칭 또는 비대칭 유형의 키일 수 있다. 데이터 플로우는 따라서 식별자(identifier)가 신규 보안 모듈 중의 하나인 블록 및 식별자가 종전 보안 모듈 중의 하나인 블록을 포함한다. 상기 블록들은 동일한 세션 동안 전송된다.
본 발명은 비제한적인 예로서 제시된 공개된 도면에 대해 설명하는 다음의 상세한 설명으로 보다 용이하게 이해될 것이다.
도 1에서, 디코더(STB)는 비휘발성 메모리(M1)를 구비한다. 상기 메모리는 현재 접속된 보안 모듈(SC)로부터 기원한 데이터를 저장하기 위해 사용된다. 상기 실시예에서, 보안 모듈(SC1)이 디코더(STB)로부터 제거되고 신규 모듈(SC2)로 교체된다.
선택된 동작 모드에 따라, 보안 모듈에 관한 데이터가 보안 모듈의 메모리(M2)로부터 디코더(STB)에 위치되어 있는, 상기 데이터에 대해 의도된 메모리(M1)로 전달된다. 상기 전달은 예를 들어 메모리(M2)의 컨텐츠가 수정될 때마다, 또는 일정한 간격으로, 또는 관리 센터로부터 발행된 명령어에 의해서도 수행될 수 있다.
상기 데이터와 관련되어, 보안 모듈은 고유 번호(UA)와 같은 식별자를 부가한다. 상기 데이터는 보안 모듈(SC)로부터 디코더의 처리 유닛(MC)으로 전송된다. 상기 유닛은 관리 센터와의 통신 및 메모리(M1) 내 데이터의 저장을 관리한다.
메모리(M1)에 저장된 데이터는 디코더에 특정한 로컬 키에 의해 암호화될 수 있다. 상기 데이터는 예를 들어 보안 모듈(SC)에 의해 연산된 서명을 수반하고 데이터 세트를 인증한다. 그러므로, 디코더에서의 수정이 있는 경우, 관리 센터는 그러한 수정을 용이하게 검출할 수 있다. 상기 서명은 그 대응 부분이 관리 센터에 포함된 비대칭 키를 사용한다. 고유 식별자는 관리 센터의 보안된 메모리 내 서명을 복호화하는 키를 발견하고 수신된 데이터가 정확한지를 검증하는 것을 허용한다.
도 2에 관리 센터로 전송된 데이터 블록(BSC)의 예가 도시된다. 디코더가 관리 센터에 접속하는 동안, 처리 유닛(MC)은 접속된 보안 모듈(SC)에 대한 데이터를 요청하고 모듈(SC2)로부터 기원한 블록(BSC2)을 전송한다. 처리 유닛(MC)은 또한 본 실시예에서는 종전의 보안 모듈(SC1)에 관한 데이터에 대응하는, 메모리(M1)에 저장된 데이터를 다시 찾는다. 상기 데이터는 블록(BSC1)의 형태로 전송된다.
일실예에 따라, 관리 센터(CGS)는 분리 모듈을 포함하며, 상기 모듈은 블록의 분류 및 적절한 처리를 허용한다. 사실상, 입력 모듈은 원리상 각 블록이 동일한 소스로부터 와서 동일한 식별자를 포함하고 있음을 검증하도록 구성된다. 상기 이유로, 종래의 방법으로 처리하기 위해, 적어도 블록(BSC2)의 부분에 대하여 블록을 분리하는 것이 중요하다. 블록(BSC1)은 정확하게 보안 모듈이 더이상 접속되지 않음에 대한 정보를 복구할 목적으로 특정 처리를 갖는다.
신규 보안 모듈(SC2)에 관한 데이터의 대체에 의해 디코더(STB) 메모리에 저장된 데이터가 손실되는 것을 피하기 위해, 관리 센터는 디코더로의 데이터 전달 동작을 활성화하기 위해 제어 워드를 디코더에 접속된 보안 모듈에 분배한다.
그러므로, 모듈 변경 동안, 신규 모듈은 초기에 자체 데이터를 전달하도록 하는 권한이 부여되지 않으며 메모리(M1)에 포함된 데이터는 종전 보안 모듈의 표본이다.
관리 센터는 전술된 방법에 따라 상기 정보를 대기한다. 일단 상기 정보가 처리되면, 관리 센터는 보안 모듈이 자체 정보를 디코더로 전송하도록 권한을 부여하는 명령어를 발송하여 메모리(M1)의 컨텐츠를 업데이트한다.

Claims (6)

  1. 고유 식별자 및 자체 기능의 특정 정보 표본을 포함하고, 제2 보안 모듈로 대체될 수 있는 사용자 유닛에 접속된 제1 보안 모듈에 의해 발생된 정보의 전송 및 저장 방법에 있어서,
    전송할 상기 제1 보안 모듈에 포함된 특정 정보를 결정하는 단계;
    상기 정보를 사용자 유닛에 전달하는 단계;
    상기 정보를 사용자 유닛에 저장하는 단계;
    상기 제2 보안 모듈로 제1 보안 모듈을 대체하는 단계;
    전송 네트워크 상에 사용자 유닛을 접속하는 단계;
    상기 제2 보안 모듈과 관리 센터 사이의 정보의 전달을 초기화하는 단계;
    상기 제2 보안 모듈에 의해 전송된 블록 내에 사용자 유닛에 의해 데이터 블록을 삽입하는 단계를 포함하며,
    상기 데이터 블록이 상기 제1 보안 모듈의 식별자 및 상기 제1 보안 모듈에 특정한 데이터를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 정보 전송 및 저장 방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 보안 모듈의 특정 정보를 전달하는 단계는 일정한 간격으로 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 정보 전송 및 저장 방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 제1 보안 모듈의 특정 정보를 전달하는 단계는 상기 정보가 수정될 때마다 수행되는 것을 특징으로 하는 정보 전송 및 저장 방법.
  4. 제1항 내지 제3항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 특정 정보를 전달하는 단계는 상기 제1 보안 모듈이 제2 보안 모듈로 대체된 후 정지되는 것을 특징으로 하는 정보 전송 및 저장 방법.
  5. 제4항에 있어서, 상기 특정 정보를 전달하는 단계는 관리 센터와의 성공적인 접속이 수행되는 즉시 권한 부여되는 것을 특징으로 하는 정보 전송 및 저장 방법.
  6. 제4항에 있어서, 상기 정보를 전달하는 단계는 관리 센터에 의해 발송된 명령어에 의해 권한 부여되는 것을 특징으로 하는 정보 전송 및 저장 방법.
