- 액정 셀을 포함하는 투과형 액정 표시 패널; 투과형 액정 표시 패널의 하나의 측면상에 배치된 하나 이상의 광원; 및 광로 제어층을 포함하는 것으로,상기 액정 셀이 배면측 기판, 가시측 기판 및 액정을 포함하되, 상기 배면측 기판은 투명기판, 투명기판보다 저굴절률의 투명층 및 투명 전극을 포함하고, 상기 가시측 기판은 투명 기판 및 투명 전극을 포함하고, 상기 액정은 상기 배면측 기판과 가시측 기판 사이에 유지되어 배면측 기판과 가시측 기판의 각 전극면이 서로 마주보도록 배치되고,상기 광로 제어층은 저굴절률의 투명층보다 더 높은 굴절률을 가지고, 배면측 기판의 외면에 반복 구조의 광로 변환 사면을 가지되, 각각의 광로 변환 사면이 배면측 기판의 기준평면에 대해 35 내지 48 도 범위의 경사각으로 기울어져 있는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 저굴절률 투명층이 상기 투명기판과 상기 투명전극 사이에 배치되고, 상기 저굴절률 투명층과 상기 투명기판 간의 굴절률 차이가 0.05 이상인 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 액정셀 내의 적어도 상기 배면측 기판이 광학적으로 등방성인 물질로 제조되는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 액정 표시 패널이 상기 액정셀의 양 대향면의 한쪽 또는 모두에 배치된 하나 또는 두 개의 편광판을 추가로 포함하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,상기 액정 표시 패널이 상기 액정셀과 상기 편광판 사이에 배치된 한층 이상의 위상차판을 추가로 포함하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광로 제어층이 상기 광원에 각각 대면하는 광로 변환 사면을 구비하는 반복적인 프리즘형 구조로 구성된 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 광로 제어층 내의 상기 프리즘형 구조의 각각이 상기 광로 제어층의 단면에서 실질적으로 삼각형 모양인 볼록부로 구성된 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 각각의 프리즘형 볼록부가, 상기 광원이 배치된 상기 액정 표시 패널의 측면과 평행하거나 경사진 능선 방향으로 상기 광로 제어층의 한쪽 말단으로부터 다른쪽 말단으로 연장되는 연속적인 홈으로 구성된 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 프리즘형 볼록부가 불연속적인 홈으로 구성되고, 상기 홈의 길이가 홈 깊이의 5배 보다 작지 않은 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 9 항에 있어서,상기 프리즘형 볼록부 내의 상기 각 불연속적인 홈의 길이 방향이, 상기 광원이 배치된 상기 액정 표시 패널의 상기 측면에 거의 평행하거나 경사진 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 프리즘형 볼록부가 랜덤하게 배치된 불연속적인 홈으로 구성된 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 6 항에 있어서,상기 광로 제어층 내의 상기 각 프리즘형 구조가, 상기 광원을 대면하는 2개 이상의 광로 변환 사면을 갖고 실질적으로 삼각형 또는 사각형 단면 모양으로 된 볼록부 또는 오목부로 구성된 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 12 항에 있어서,상기 광원이 상기 액정 표시 패널의 2개 이상의 측면에 배치된 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광로 제어층 내의 상기 각 광로 변환 사면의 경사각이 35 내지 48도 범위인 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광로 제어층이 투명시이트로 제조되고, 상기 저굴절률 투명층보다 더 큰 굴절률을 갖는 접착층을 통해 상기 액정 표시 패널에 접착된 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 15 항에 있어서,상기 접착층이 접착제 층으로 구성된 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광로 제어층의 굴절률 및 상기 접착층의 굴절률이 각각 상기 저굴절률 투명층의 굴절률보다 0.05 이상 더 큰 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 배면측 기판의 하나 이상의 측면이 상기 가시측 기판의 측면에 비해 바깥쪽으로 돌출되고, 각 광원이 상기 배면측 기판의 상기 돌출된 측면 상에 배치된 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 광원이 반사형 광원 홀더에 의해 둘러싸이고 상기 광원 홀더의 말단부를 통해 상기 배면측 기판의 상면 및 하면의 말단부에 접착되도록 하는 방식으로, 상기 광원이 상기 배면측 기판의 측면 상에 배치되고 유지되는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,액정셀 측으로부터 나오는 광을 반사시키기 위해 상기 광로 제어층의 외측에 배치된 반사기를 추가로 포함하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 20 항에 있어서,상기 반사기가 금속 박막으로 제조된 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 20 항에 있어서,상기 반사기가 지지 기재에 부착된 금속 박막으로 제조되고, 상기 광로 제어층 및 상기 투명 기판의 굴절률보다 더 낮은 굴절률을 갖는 접착층을 통해 상기 광로 제어층에 결합된 액정 표시 장치.
