Description
Claims (16)
- 공간 광 변조기(spatial light modulator);상기 변조기를 통해 광을 도광시키는 방향성 조명 시스템(directional illumination system); 및상기 변조기와 연관된 시차 광학계(parallax optic)를 포함하되,상기 조명 시스템은 광을 복수의 제1의 가공의 관찰 윈도우(notional viewing window)쪽으로 도광시키고 -상기 제1의 가공의 관찰 윈도우 각각은 제1의 측방 범위(lateral extent)를 가짐-,상기 시차 광학계는 상기 변조기와 협동하여 상기 변조기의 비방향성 조명의 결과 제2의 가공의 관찰 윈도우들이 형성되며 -상기 제2의 가공의 관찰 윈도우 각각은 제2의 측방 범위를 가짐-,상기 변조기, 상기 조명 시스템 및 상기 시차 광학계는 협동하여 실제의 관찰 윈도우를 형성하는 -상기 실제의 관찰 윈도우 각각은 상기 제1의 측방 범위와 제2의 측방 범위의 곱(product)와 같고 또한 상기 제1 및 제2의 측방 범위 각각보다 작은 측방 범위를 가짐-것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 조명 시스템은 적어도 하나의 조명 광원(illumination source) 및 결상 시스템(imaging system)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 조명 시스템은 복수의 이산적인 광원(discrete light source)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 결상 시스템은 시야 렌즈(field lens)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 조명 시스템은 백라이트, 및 상기 조명 광원을 규정하는 복수의 슬릿을 갖는 마스크를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제5항에 있어서, 상기 마스크의 상기 슬릿들간의 영역은 상기 백라이트쪽으로 반사되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제5항에 있어서, 상기 결상 시스템은 렌티큘러 스크린(lenticular screen)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제7항에 있어서, 상기 렌티큘러 스크린의 각 렌티큘(lenticule)은 일군의 슬릿들과 협동하여 상기 슬릿들을 각각의 관찰 윈도우내의 복수의 로브(lobe)에 결상시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 결상 시스템은 적어도 하나의 홀로그래픽 광학 소자(holographic optical element)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제9항에 있어서, 상기 조명 광원은 콜리메이트된 광원(collimated light source)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 관찰 윈도우는 측방으로 연접하여(laterally contiguous) 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 관찰 윈도우는 측방으로 일정 간격을 둔 측방으로 연접한 관찰 윈도우의 쌍을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 시차 광학계는 시차 배리어(parallax barrier)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 공간 광 변조기는 제1 및 제2의 공간 광 변조기를 포함하고, 상기 시차 광학계는 상기 제1 및 제2의 공간 광 변조기와 각각 협동하는 제1 및 제2의 시차 광학계를 포함하며, 상기 디스플레이는 상기 제1 및 제2의 공간 광 변조기로부터의 출력광을 결합시키기 위한 빔 결합기(beamcombiner)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제14항에 있어서, 상기 조명 시스템은 복수의 이산적인 광원, 및 상기 광원으로부터의 광을 상기 제1 및 제2의 공간 광 변조기쪽으로 도광시키기 위한 빔 분할기(beamsplitter)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 공간 광 변조기와 협동하고 또한 방향성 디스플레이 모드를 제공하기 위한 비분산 상태(non-diffusing state)와 비방향성 디스플레이 모드를 제공하기 위한 분산 상태(diffusing state) 사이에서 전환할 수 있는 전환 가능 디퓨저(switchable diffuser)를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방향성 디스플레이.
