Description
Claims (28)
- 디스플레이에 있어서,편광된 광(polarized light)을 제공하기 위한 광원과,서로 이격된 전방 및 후방 표면(front and back surfaces displaced from each other) -상기 전방 및 후방 표면 각각은 상기 편광된 광을 동일한 편광인 다수의 칼라로 분리하기 위한 서로 다른 칼라 세그먼트들(segments of different colors)을 가짐- 을 구비한 휠과,적어도 2개의 광밸브(light valve) -상기 광밸브 각각은 상기 다수의 칼라 중 서로 다른 칼라를 수광하여 영상 형성 광(image forming light)을 제공함- 와,상기 영상 형성 광을 스크린에 투사하기 위한 투사 렌즈(projection lens)를 포함하는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 전방 표면의 상기 세그먼트들이 상기 후방 표면의 상기 세그먼트들에 대해 오프셋되어 있어서, 상기 전방 및 후방 표면의 조합으로 만들어진 조합 세그먼트는 하나 걸러서(every other combined segment) 제1 및 제2 칼라를 동시에 제공하기 위한 이중 칼라 밴드(dual color bands)를 포함하고, 상기 제1 칼라는 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브 중 하나를 조명하고 상기 제2 칼라는 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브중 다른 하나를 조명하기 위한 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 전방 및 후방 표면의 상기 세그먼트들이 상기 복수의 칼라를 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브로 동시에 반사하는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 전방 및 후방 표면의 상기 세그먼트들이 투명 영역들(transparent regions)로 분리되어 있고, 상기 전방 표면의 상기 투명 영역은 상기 후방 표면의 상기 투명 영역에 대해 오프셋되어 있는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 전방 및 후방 표면의 상기 세그먼트들이 투명 영역들로 분리되어 있고, 상기 투명 영역들은 서로 오프셋되어 있어서 하나의 칼라 빔(colored beam)이 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브 중 하나에 제공되는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 전방 및 후방 표면은 화학선 표면이고 상기 세그먼트들이 반사성 다이크로익 코팅(reflective dichroic coatings)을 가지는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 전방 및 후방 표면의 상기 세그먼트들이 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브의 조명을 막기 위한 오프 영역(off regions)에 의해 분리되어 있고, 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브 각각의 듀티 사이클(duty cycle)은 50% 이상인 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브를 동시에 서로 다른 칼라들로 순차적으로 조명하기 위해 상기 휠을 회전시키는 장치를 더 포함하는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 다수의 칼라를 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브로 조사하고 상기 영상 형성 광을 상기 투사 렌즈로 조사하기 위한 프리즘 조립체(prism assembly)를 더 포함하는 디스플레이.
- 제9항에 있어서,상기 프리즘 조립체의 단면이 정사각형 및 다이아몬드형 중 하나인 디스플레이.
- 제9항에 있어서,상기 프리즘 조립체가 공기 갭에 의해 분리된 2개의 삼각형을 포함하는 디스플레이.
- 제9항에 있어서,상기 프리즘 조립체가 제1 굴절 지수의 제1 물질로 된 2개의 삼각형을 포함하고, 상기 2개의 삼각형이 제2 굴절 지수의 제2 물질에 의해 분리되어 있는 디스플레이.
- 제12항에 있어서,상기 제1 물질의 굴절 지수가 상기 제2 물질의 굴절 지수보다 큰 디스플레이.
- 제9항에 있어서,상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브가 상기 프리즘 조립체에 인접한 쪽에 배치된 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 다수의 칼라를 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브 중 하나로 반사시키고, 상기 다수의 칼라를 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브 중 다른 하나로 투과시키며, 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브로부터 제공되는 영상 형성 광을 재결합하기 위한 내부 전반사 프리즘(total-internal-reflection prism)을 더 포함하는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브는 투과성(transmissive) 및 반사성(reflective) 광밸브 중 하나인 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 휠과 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브 사이에 배치된 편광기(polarizer)를 더 포함하는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브와 상기 투사 렌즈 사이에 배치된 편광기를 더 포함하는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 휠과 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브 사이에 배치된 입력 편광기와 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브와 상기 투사 렌즈 사이에 배치된 출력 편광기를 더 포함하는 디스플레이.
- 제19항에 있어서,상기 입력 편광기의 편광 방향이 상기 출력 편광기의 편광 방향과 수직인 디스플레이.
- 제19항에 있어서,상기 입력 편광기의 편광 방향이 상기 출력 편광기의 편광 방향과 평행인 디스플레이.
- 제19항에 있어서,상기 입력 편광기가 상기 출력 편광기에 수직인 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 휠과 상기 적어도 2개의 광밸브 사이에 배치된 조명 릴레이 렌즈(illumination relay lens)를 더 포함하는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 전방 및 후방 표면은 서로 분리되어 있어서 상기 전방 표면으로부터 상기 다수의 칼라 중 제1 칼라 빔과 상기 후방 표면으로부터 제2 칼라 빔 -상기 제1 칼라 빔은 상기 제2 칼라 빔에 평행함- 을 동시에 반사시키는 디스플레이.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 전방 및 후방 표면은 서로 만나서 웨지를 형성하고 있어서(meet to form a wedge) 상기 전방 표면으로부터 상기 다수의 칼라 중 제1 칼라 빔을 제1 방향으로 또한 상기 후방 표면으로부터 제2 칼라 빔을 제2 방향으로 동시에 반사시키는 디스플레이.
- 필드 순차 칼라 투사(field-sequential color projection)용 칼라 휠에 있어서,제1 투명 세그먼트들(clear segments)에 의해 분리되어 있는 제1 칼라 세그먼트들 -상기 제1 칼라 세그먼트들은 백색광을 다른 칼라들로 변환함- 을 구비한 제1 표면과,제2 투명 세그먼트들에 의해 분리되어 있는 제2 칼라 세그먼트들 -상기 제2 칼라 세그먼트들은 상기 백색광을 상기 다른 칼라들로 변환함- 을 구비한 제2 표면을 포함하고,상기 제1 및 제2 칼라 세그먼트가 중첩될 때 서로 다른 칼라의 두 광 빔(beams of light)을 동시에 제공하도록 상기 제1 칼라 세그먼트들은 상기 제2 칼라 세그먼트들로부터 오프셋되어 있고, 상기 제1 투명 세그먼트는 상기 백색광을 투과시키도록 상기 제2 투명 세그먼트로부터 오프셋되어 있는 칼라 휠.
- 제26항에 있어서,상기 제1 및 제2 칼라 세그먼트는 반사성 코팅(reflective coatings)을 포함하는 칼라 휠.
- 제26항에 있어서,상기 두 광 빔이 동일한 편광인 칼라 휠.
