Claims (10)
- 슬롯 모드(slotted mode)로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치(100)-상기 무선 통신 장치(100)은 슬롯 모드로 들어가기 전에 활성 파일롯(active pilot)을 포함하는 활성 세트(Active Set), 복수의 이웃 파일롯(neighbor pilot)을 포함하는 이웃 세트(Neighbor Set)와 페이징 채널(Paging Channel)을 모니터하기 위해 상기 무선 통신 장치(100)에 대한 할당된 슬롯(assigned slot)을 저장함-을 핸드오프하는 방법에 있어서,a) 상기 할당된 슬롯 이전에 상기 활성 파일롯의 신호 세기를 측정하는 단계(203)와,b) 상기 할당된 슬롯 동안에 상기 복수의 이웃 파일롯 중 적어도 하나의 신호 세기를 측정하는 단계(207)와,c) 상기 활성 파일롯을 활성 파일롯의 측정된 신호 세기보다 더 큰 측정된 신호 세기를 갖는 복수의 이웃 파일롯들 중 적어도 하나 중 어떤 한 이웃 파일롯으로 교체하는 단계(215)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 슬롯 모드로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치의 핸드오프 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 활성 세트내의 상기 활성 파일롯을 교체한 후에 슬립(sleep)하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 슬롯 모드로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치의 핸드오프 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,복수의 이웃 파일롯의 서브세트(subset)를 포함하는 핫 이웃 세트(hot neighbor set)-상기 핫 이웃 세트의 복수의 이웃 파일롯의 서브세트는 핫 이웃 파일롯(hot neighbor pilot)이라 하고, 상기 이웃 세트내에 있지만 상기 핫 이웃 세트내에 없는 이웃 파일롯은 콜드 이웃 파일롯(cold neighbor pilot)이라 함-를 사전 결정하는 단계를 포함하되,상기 단계 b)에서 핫 이웃 파일롯의 신호 세기는 콜드 이웃 파일롯 이전에 측정되는 것을 특징으로 하는 슬롯 모드로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치의 핸드오프 방법.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 활성 파일롯과 상기 복수의 이웃 파일롯 중 적어도 하나의 측정된 신호 세기에 따라 핫 이웃 세트를 재결정하는 단계(211)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 슬롯 모드로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치의 핸드오프 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 복수의 이웃 파일롯들 중 적어도 하나의 측정된 신호 세기 어느 것도 활성 파일롯의 측정된 신호 세기보다 크지 않은 경우에, 상기 활성 파일롯의 신호가 적절한 세기 또는 품질을 가지고 있는지를 판정하는 단계(213, 219)와,상기 활성 파일롯의 신호가 적절한 세기와 품질을 가지고 있지 않은 경우에, 상기 할당된 슬롯을 지나 상기 복수의 이웃 파일롯의 신호 세기를 계속 측정하는 단계(227)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 슬롯 모드로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치의 핸드오프 방법.
- 제5항에 있어서,상기 활성 파일롯과 상기 복수의 이웃 파일롯의 측정된 신호 세기에 따라 이웃 세트를 재결정하는 단계(229)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 슬롯 모드로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치의 핸드오프 방법.
- 제5항에 있어서,상기 활성 파일롯의 측정된 신호 세기가 소정의 문턱값보다 더 큰 경우에, 상기 활성 파일롯의 신호는 적절한 세기 또는 품질을 가지는 것(219)을 특징으로 하는 슬롯 모드로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치의 핸드오프 방법.
- 제5항에 있어서,상기 복수의 이웃 파일롯의 측정된 신호 세기 중 어느 것도 활성 파일롯의 측정된 신호 세기보다 크지 않은 경우 슬립(sleep)하는 단계(213, 217)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 슬롯 모드로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치의 핸드오프 방법.
- 제5항에 있어서,상기 활성 파일롯의 신호가 적절한 세기를 가지고 있는 경우에 슬립(sleep)하는 단계(213, 219, 217)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 슬롯 모드로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치의 핸드오프 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,A) 복수의 이웃 파일롯의 서브세트를 포함하는 핫 이웃 세트-상기 핫 이웃 세트의 복수의 이웃 파일롯의 서브세트는 핫 이웃 파일롯(hot neighbor pilot)이라 하고, 이웃 세트내에 있지만 핫 이웃 세트내에 없는 이웃 파일롯은 콜드 이웃 파일롯(cold neighbor pilot)이라 함-를 사전 결정하는 단계(211)와,B) 활성 파일롯의 측정된 신호 세기에 근거하여 핫 이웃 세트의 신호 문턱값을 수정하는 단계를 포함하되,상기 단계 A)에서 서브세트는 신호 문턱값에 의해 정의되는 것을 특징으로 하는 슬롯 모드로 동작하는 무선 통신 장치의 핸드오프 방법.
