Abstract
본 발명의 실시예에 의한 유기전계발광 표시장치는 감마전압들을 이용하여 데이터선들로 공급될 데이터신호를 생성하기 위한 데이터 구동부와; 주사선들 및 상기 데이터선들에 의하여 구획된 영역에 위치되며, 상기 데이터신호 및 기준전원에 대응하여 제 1전원으로부터 제 2전원으로 흐르는 전류량을 제어하는 화소들을 포함하는 화소부와; 복수의 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 화소부의 최대 휘도를 제한하기 위한 타이밍 제어부와; 상기 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 제 1전원의 전압값을 변경하기 위한 제 1전원 생성부를 구비한다.

Claims (16)
- 감마전압들을 이용하여 데이터선들로 공급될 데이터신호를 생성하기 위한 데이터 구동부와;
주사선들 및 상기 데이터선들에 의하여 구획된 영역에 위치되며, 상기 데이터신호 및 기준전원에 대응하여 제 1전원으로부터 제 2전원으로 흐르는 전류량을 제어하는 화소들을 포함하는 화소부와;
복수의 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 화소부의 최대 휘도를 제한하기 위한 타이밍 제어부와;
상기 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 제 1전원의 전압값을 변경하기 위한 제 1전원 생성부를 구비하고,
상기 타이밍 제어부의 제어에 대응하여 구동전원을 생성하기 위한 전원부와;
상기 구동전원을 이용하여 상기 감마전압들을 생성하기 위한 감마전압 생성부와;
상기 구동전원을 이용하여 상기 기준전원을 생성하기 위한 기준전원 생성부를 더 구비하며;
상기 구동전원은 상기 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 전압값이 변경되는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 제 1전원 생성부에 접속되며, 상기 디밍 레벨에 대응한 상기 제 1전원의 전압값을 저장하는 제 1저장부를 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 화소부의 최대 휘도가 낮아질수록 상기 제 1전원의 전압도 낮아지는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치. - 삭제
- 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 전원부에 접속되며, 상기 디밍 레벨에 대응한 상기 구동전원의 전압값을 저장하는 제 2저장부를 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 화소부의 최대 휘도가 낮아질수록 상기 구동전원의 전압도 낮아지는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치. - 제 1항에 있어서,
상기 전원부는 상기 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 제 1전원이 특정 전압만큼 낮아지는 경우, 상기 데이터신호 및 기준전원 각각의 전압도 상기 특정 전압만큼 낮아지도록 상기 구동전원의 전압을 제어하는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치. - 감마전압들을 이용하여 데이터선들로 공급될 데이터신호를 생성하기 위한 데이터 구동부와;
주사선들 및 상기 데이터선들에 의하여 구획된 영역에 위치되며, 상기 데이터신호 및 기준전원에 대응하여 제 1전원으로부터 제 2전원으로 흐르는 전류량을 제어하는 화소들을 포함하는 화소부와;
복수의 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 화소부의 최대 휘도를 제한하기 위한 타이밍 제어부와;
상기 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 제 1전원의 전압값을 변경하기 위한 제 1전원 생성부를 구비하고,
상기 화소부는
두 개 이상의 주사선들을 포함하도록 분할된 i(i는 2이상의 자연수)개의 블록과;
상기 블록마다 하나씩 형성되는 i개의 제 1제어선으로 제 1제어신호, i개의 제 2제어선으로 제 2제어신호를 공급하기 위한 제어 구동부와;
상기 주사선들로 주사신호를 공급하기 위한 주사 구동부를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치. - 제 8항에 있어서,
상기 주사 구동부는 제 i블록에 포함된 주사선들로 주사신호를 동시에 공급하고, 상기 주사신호의 공급을 순차적으로 중단하는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치. - 제 9항에 있어서,
상기 제어 구동부는
상기 제 i블록에 포함된 주사선들로 상기 주사신호가 동시에 공급된 후 상기 제 i블록에 포함된 제 1제어선으로 제 1제어신호를 공급하고,
상기 제 i블록에 포함된 제 1제어선으로 제 1제어신호가 공급된 후 상기 제 i블록에 포함된 제 2제어선으로 제 2제어신호를 공급하며,
상기 제 i블록에 포함된 주사선들로 상기 주사신호의 공급이 중단된 후 순차적으로 상기 제 1제어신호 및 제 2제어신호의 공급을 중단하는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치. - 제 8항에 있어서,
상기 화소들 중 적어도 하나는
유기 발광 다이오드와;
제 1노드에 인가된 전압에 대응하여 제 1전극에 접속된 상기 제 1전원으로부터 상기 유기 발광 다이오드를 경유하여 상기 제 2전원으로 흐르는 전류량을 제어하기 위한 제 1트랜지스터와;
상기 제 1노드와 데이터선 사이에 접속되며, 상기 주사신호가 공급될 때 턴-온되는 제 2트랜지스터와;
상기 제 1트랜지스터의 제 1전극과 상기 제 1전원 사이에 접속되며, 상기 제 1제어신호가 공급될 때 턴-오프되며 그 외의 경우에 턴-온되는 제 3트랜지스터와;
상기 제 1트랜지스터의 제 2전극과 상기 유기 발광 다이오드의 애노드전극 사이에 접속되며, 상기 제 2제어신호가 공급될 때 턴-오프되며 그 외의 경우에 턴-온되는 제 4트랜지스터와;
상기 유기 발광 다이오드의 애노드전극과 초기화전원 사이에 접속되며, 상기 주사신호가 공급될 때 턴-온되는 제 5트랜지스터와;
상기 제 1노드와 상기 제 1전원 사이에 직렬로 접속되는 제 1커패시터 및 제 2커패시터를 구비하며;
상기 제 1커패시터 및 제 2커패시터의 공통단자인 제 2노드는 상기 제 1트랜지스터의 제 1전극과 전기적으로 접속되는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치. - 데이터신호 및 기준전원의 전압에 대응하여 제 1전원으로부터 제 2전원으로 흐르는 전류량을 제어하면서 휘도를 구현하는 화소를 포함하는 유기전계발광 표시장치의 구동방법에 있어서;
구동전원을 이용하여 상기 데이터신호를 생성하기 위한 감마전압들 및 상기 기준전원을 생성하는 단계와;
디밍 레벨에 대응하여 화소부의 최대 휘도를 제한하는 단계와;
상기 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 제 1전원의 전압을 제어하는 단계와;
상기 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 데이터신호 및 기준전원의 전압을 제어하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치의 구동방법. - 제 12항에 있어서,
상기 데이터신호 및 기준전원의 전압을 제어하는 단계는 상기 구동전원의 전압을 변경하는 단계인 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치의 구동방법. - 제 12항에 있어서,
상기 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 최대 휘도가 낮아질수록 상기 제 1전원의 전압도 낮아지는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치의 구동방법. - 제 12항에 있어서,
상기 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 최대 휘도가 낮아질수록 상기 구동전원의 전압도 낮아지는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치의 구동방법. - 제 12항에 있어서,
상기 디밍 레벨에 대응하여 상기 제 1전원이 특정 전압만큼 낮아지는 경우, 상기 데이터신호 및 기준전원 각각의 전압도 상기 특정 전압만큼 낮아지도록 상기 구동전원의 전압이 제어되는 것을 특징으로 하는 유기전계발광 표시장치의 구동방법.
