도 2a 및 도 2b는 도 1의 전기-광학 변조기의 동작을 설명하기 위한 단면도들이다.
도 3은 도 1의 전기-광학 변조기에서 반사필름의 기능을 설명하기 위하여 반사필름을 확대하여 보여주는 사시도이다.
도 4는 도 1의 전기-광학 변조기를 이용하여 평판 디스플레이의 화소 불량을 검출하는 원리를 설명하기 위한 개념도이다.
도 5는 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 전기-광학 변조기를 포함한 검사 장치에 대한 블록 구조도이다.

- 광원;
검사 대상체 상부에 배치된 CLC 폴리머 반사필름을 구비하며, 상기 검사 대상체의 전압 분포에 따라 반사광의 인텐서티가 변하는 전기-광학 변조기;
광을 투과 또는 반사하는 빔 스플리터(BS: Beam Splitter);
상기 광원으로부터 광을 상기 빔 스플리터로 전달하는 제1 광학계; 및
상기 빔 스플리터로부터의 광을 상기 전기-광학 변조기로 전달하고 상기 전기-광학 변조기로부터 반사광을 상기 빔 스플리터로 전달하는 제2 광학계;를 포함하고,
상기 전기-광학 변조기는,
상기 반사필름 상에 배치되고, 폴리머 필름 및 다수의 액정 드롭릿들을 구비한 복합 재료층; 및
상기 복합 재료층 상면 상에 배치된 투명 전극층;을 포함하고,
상기 투명 전극층과 상기 검사 대상체 사이의 바이어스 전압과 상기 검사 대상체의 전압 분포에 따라 상기 드롭릿들 내의 액정 분자들의 정렬 상태가 달라지며,
상기 검사 대상체에 대한 테스트 시에,
상기 검사 대상체와 상기 투명 전극층 사이에 바이어스 전압이 인가되고, 상기 검사 대상체에 동작 전압이 인가되는 것을 특징으로 하는 검사 장치. - 삭제

상기 검사 장치는,
상기 검사 대상체가 배치되는 검사 스테이지; 및

상기 제1 광학계와 상기 빔 스플리터 사이에 TM파(Transverse Magnetic Wave) 또는 TE파(Transverse Electric Wave)를 통과시키는 제1 편광자(polarizer)가 배치되고,
상기 빔 스플리터와 상기 검출기 사이에 상기 TM파 또는 TE파를 통과시키는 제2 편광자가 배치된 것을 특징으로 하는 검사 장치. - 삭제

상기 검출기는 CMOS 카메라이고,
상기 검사 장치는, 상기 CMOS 카메라로부터의 이미지를 복수 개 누적하고 평균화하여 평균 이미지를 생성하는 이미지 그래버(Grabber)를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 검사 장치. - 제9 항에 있어서,
상기 CMOS 카메라의 이미지는 43dB의 SNR(Signal Noise Ratio)를 가지며,
상기 이미지 그래버로부터 생성된 평균 이미지는 50dB 이상의 SNR을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 검사 장치. - 삭제

상기 동작 전압의 인가없이 상기 바이어스 전압을 인가하여 캘리브레이션(calibration)용 이미지를 획득하고,

상기 동작 전압 이미지를 상기 캘리브레이션용 이미지로 나누어 보정 전압 이미지를 획득하는 것을 특징으로 하는 검사 장치. - 제12 항에 있어서,
픽셀 맵핑 수행을 이용하여 상기 보정 전압 이미지가 전압 맵 이미지로 변환된 후, 다수의 소영역으로 분할되고, 각각의 상기 소영역에 대하여 로컬 문턱값(local threshold)을 적용하여 불균일 요소들을 제거하여 디펙(Defect) 이미지를 획득하는 것을 특징으로 하는 검사 장치. - 내부에 액정 드랍릿들(liquid crystal droplets)을 구비한 폴리머 필름;
상기 폴리머 필름 상면 상에 배치된 투명 전극층; 및
상기 투명 전극층에 반대되는 상기 폴리머 필름의 하면 상에 배치된 CLC(Cholesteric Liquid Crystal) 폴리머 반사필름;을 구비하고,
상기 CLC 폴리머 반사 필름은, 상기 CLC 폴리머 반사 필름으로부터 갭(gap)에 의해 이격된 검사 대상체의 전계를 상기 폴리머 필름으로 전달하며,
상기 전계는 상기 검사 대상체와 투명 전극층 사이에 인가된 바이어스 전압으로부터 결과하며,
상기 검사 대상체에 대한 테스트 시에 상기 검사 대상체에 동작 전압이 인가되는 것을 특징으로 하는 전기-광학 변조기. - 삭제
