Claims (14)

- 종방향 웹(longitudinal web)에 의해 지지되는 복수 개의 배향가능한 비구형 박편(orientable non-spherical flake)들을 평탄화(planarizing)하는 방법에 있어서,a) 자장에 의해 배향가능한(field orientable) 비구형 박편들의 코팅(coating)을 지지하는 웹을 피드경로(feedpath)를 따라 제공하는 단계;b) 상기 피드경로의 한 측에 제1의 복수 개의 자석들을 제공하고 상기 피드경로의 반대편 측에 제2의 복수 개의 자석들을 제공하는 단계로서, 상기 제1의 복수 개의 자석들 및 상기 제2의 복수 개의 자석들은 상기 피드경로를 따라 서로로부터 직접 마주하지 않도록 엇갈려 배치되고(staggered), 상기 제1의 복수 개의 자석들 및 상기 제2의 복수 개의 자석들은 서로 다른 위치들에서 상기 피드경로와 나란히 배치되며, 상기 피드경로를 향해 반대 극성들을 가지는 복수 개의 자석 쌍들을 형성하여, 각 쌍이 상보적인 극성을 지님으로써 상기 피드경로를 가로지르는 자장이 제공되게 하고, 상기 자석들은, 상기 피드경로를 따라 이동하는 복수 개의 자장에 의해 배향가능한 비구형 박편들이 상기 웹을 따라 자석들을 지남에 따라 복수의 회전들을 하도록 위치되는, 단계; 및c) 상기 박편들을 지지하는 상기 웹 및 상보적인 유인 자석 쌍들을 형성하는 상기 자석들 중 적어도 한쪽을 상대적으로 이동시키는 단계;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는, 배향가능한 비구형 박편의 평탄화 방법.
