Abstract
Description
Claims (22)
- 양의 유전율 이방성을 갖는 액정 조성물로서, 상기 액정 조성물이 일반식(LC0)으로 표시되는 화합물에서 선택되는 1종 또는 2종 이상의 화합물을 함유하고, 추가로, 일반식(LC1) 내지 일반식(LC5)으로 표시되는 화합물 군에서 선택되는 1종 또는 2종 이상의 화합물을 함유하며, 일반식(LC0)에 있어서의 R01이 식(R1) 내지 (R5)의 어느 하나인 1종 또는 2종 이상의 화합물을 5∼50질량% 함유하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 조성물.
(식 중, R01은 탄소수 2∼5의 알케닐기를 나타내고, R11∼R41은 각각 독립하여 탄소수 1∼15의 알킬기를 나타내며, 당해 알킬기 중의 1개 또는 2개 이상의 -CH2-는, 산소 원자가 직접 인접하지 않도록, -O-, -CH=CH-, -CO-, -OCO-, -COO-, -C≡C-, -CF2O- 또는 -OCF2-로 치환되어도 되고, 당해 알킬기 중의 1개 또는 2개 이상의 수소 원자는 임의로 할로겐으로 치환되어 있어도 되고, R51 및 R52은 각각 독립하여 탄소수 1∼15의 알킬기를 나타내며, 당해 알킬기 중의 1개 또는 2개 이상의 -CH2-는, 산소 원자가 직접 인접하지 않도록, -O-, -CH=CH-, -CO-, -OCO-, -COO- 또는 -C≡C-로 치환되어도 되고, 후술하는 A51 또는 A53가 시클로헥산환인 경우는 -OCF3 또는 -CF3-이어도 되고, A01∼A42는 각각 독립하여 하기의 어느 하나의 구조
(당해 구조 중 시클로헥산환의 1개 또는 2개 이상의 -CH2-는 산소 원자가 직접 인접하지 않도록, -O-로 치환되어 있어도 되고, 당해 구조 중 벤젠환의 1개 또는 2개 이상의 -CH=는 질소 원자가 직접 인접하지 않도록, -N=로 치환되어 있어도 되고, 여기서 A01∼A03에서는 X61 및 X62는 각각 독립하여 -H, -Cl, -F, 또는 -CF3을 나타내며, A11∼A42에서는 X61 및 X62는 각각 독립하여 -H, -Cl, -F, -CF3 또는 -OCF3을 나타냄)를 나타내고, A51∼A53는 각각 독립하여 하기의 어느 하나의 구조
(식 중, 시클로헥산환 중의 1개 또는 2개 이상의 -CH2CH2-는 -CH=CH-, -CF2O- 또는 -OCF2-로 치환되어 있어도 되고, 벤젠환 중의 1개 또는 2개 이상의 -CH=는 질소 원자가 직접 인접하지 않도록, -N=로 치환되어 있어도 됨)를 나타내고, X01는 수소 원자 또는 불소 원자를 나타내고, X11∼X43는 각각 독립하여 -H, -Cl, -F, -CF3 또는 -OCF3를 나타내고, Y01∼Y41는 -Cl, -F, -OCHF2, -CF3 또는 -OCF3를 나타내고, Z01 및 Z02는 각각 독립하여 단결합, -CH=CH-, -C≡C-, -CH2CH2-, -(CH2)4-, -OCF2- 또는 -CF2O-를 나타내고, Z31∼Z42는 각각 독립하여 단결합, -CH=CH-, -C≡C-, -CH2CH2-, -(CH2)4-, -OCF2- 또는 -CF2O-를 나타내고, 존재하는 Z31 및 Z32 중 적어도 1개는 단결합이 아니고, Z51 및 Z52는 각각 독립하여 단결합, -CH=CH-, -C≡C-, -CH2CH2-, -(CH2)4-, -OCH2-, -CH2O-, -OCF2- 또는 -CF2O-를 나타내고, m01∼m51은 각각 독립하여 0∼3의 정수를 나타내고, m01+m02는 1 또는 2를 나타내고, m31+m32 및 m41+m42은 각각 독립하여 1, 2, 3 또는 4를 나타내고, A01, A03, A23, A31, A32, A41, A42, A52, Z01, Z02, Z31, Z32, Z41, Z42 및/또는 Z52가 복수 존재할 경우, 그들은 동일해도, 달라도 됨)
(식(R1) 내지 (R5)의 각 식 중의 흑점(黑点)은 환과의 연결점을 나타냄) - 삭제
- 제1항에 있어서,
일반식(LC0)에 있어서 X01가 F인 액정 조성물. - 제1항에 있어서,
일반식(LC1) 내지 일반식(LC5)에 존재하는 R11 내지 R41, R51 및/또는 R52이 탄소수 2∼5의 알케닐기인 화합물을 1종 또는 2종 이상 함유하는 액정 조성물. - 제1항에 있어서,
일반식(LC1) 내지 일반식(LC4)에 존재하는 A11 내지 A42의 적어도 어느 하나가 테트라히드로피란-2,5-디일기인 화합물을 1종 또는 2종 이상 함유하는 액정 조성물. - 제1항에 있어서,
일반식(LC0), 일반식(LC3) 내지 일반식(LC5)에 존재하는 Z01, Z02, Z31 내지 Z42, Z51 및 Z52의 적어도 어느 하나가 -C2FO- 또는 -OCF2-인 화합물을 1종 또는 2종 이상 함유하는 액정 조성물. - 제1항에 있어서,
일반식(LC5)으로 표시되는 화합물을 30∼70질량% 함유하고, 20℃에서의 벌크 점도 η가 20mPa·s 이하인 액정 조성물. - 제1항에 있어서,
광학 활성 화합물을 1종 또는 2종 이상 함유하는 액정 조성물. - 제1항에 있어서,
중합성 화합물을 1종 또는 2종 이상 함유하는 액정 조성물. - 제1항에 있어서,
산화방지제를 1종 또는 2종 이상 함유하는 액정 조성물. - 제1항에 있어서,
UV 흡수제를 1종 또는 2종 이상 함유하는 액정 조성물. - 제1항에 기재된 액정 조성물을 사용한 액정 표시 소자.
- 제1항에 기재된 액정 조성물을 사용한 액티브 매트릭스 구동용 액정 표시 소자.
- 제1항에 기재된 액정 조성물을 사용한 TN(Twisted Nematic) 모드, OCB(Optically Compensated Birefringence) 모드, ECB(Electrically Controlled Birefringence) 모드, IPS(In Plane Switching) 모드 또는 VA-IPS(Vertical Alignment - In Plane Switching) 모드용 액정 표시 소자.
- 제13항에 기재된 액정 조성물을 사용하여, 전압 인가 하 또는 전압 무인가 하에서 당해 액정 조성물 중에 함유하는 중합성 화합물을 중합시켜서 제작한 고분자 안정화의 TN(Twisted Nematic) 모드, OCB(Optically Compensated Birefringence) 모드, ECB(Electrically Controlled Birefringence) 모드, IPS(In Plane Switching) 모드 또는 VA-IPS(Vertical Alignment - In Plane Switching) 모드용 액정 표시 소자.
- 제16항에 있어서,
액정 분자와 접하는 면에서 당해 액정 분자를 수평, 틸트 및/또는 수직으로 배향시키는 배향층이, 폴리이미드(PI), 폴리아미드, 칼콘, 신나메이트 또는 신나모일의 적어도 1종에서 선택된 화합물을 함유하는 배향막을 마련한 액정 표시 소자. - 제20항에 있어서,
제20항에 기재된 배향층에 추가로 중합성 액정 화합물 및/또는 중합성 비액정 화합물을 함유하는 것을 특징으로 한 액정 표시 소자. - 제20항에 있어서,
액정 조성물과 접하는 면의 배향층으로서, 광배향 기술을 사용하여 제작한 배향막을 마련한 액정 표시 소자.
