u 및 v는 서로 각각 독립적으로 0 또는 1이고,
Z0은 -COO-, -OCO-, -CH2CH2-, -CH=CH-, -C≡C- 또는 단일 결합이고,
R0은 극성 기 또는 비극성 기이고,
Ter는 터펜오이드 라디칼, 예컨대 메틸이고,
Chol은 콜레스테릴 기이고,
L, L1 및 L2는 서로 각각 독립적으로 H, F, Cl, CN, 또는 1 내지 7의 탄소 원자를 갖는 선택적으로 할로겐화된 알킬, 알콕시, 알킬카보닐, 알킬카보닐옥시, 알콕시카보닐 또는 알콕시카보닐옥시 기이고,

Claims (21)
- 하나 이상이 입사광에 대해 투명한 두 개의 평행한 평면 기재에 의해 형성된 스위칭가능한 액정 셀(LC), 상기 두 기재 사이에 존재하는 액정 매질, 하나 이상의 광학 지연 필름 및 상기 기재 중 한 기재상에 제공된 컬러 필터 어레이를 포함하되, 상기 광학 지연 필름 중 하나 이상이 상기 스위칭가능한 액정 셀의 내부에서 상기 액정 셀의 상기 두 기재 사이 및 상기 컬러 필터 어레이와 상기 액정 매질의 사이에 위치하는 액정 디스플레이(LCD).
- (1) 하기 열거된 순서로 에지로부터 출발하여 셀 중심의 방향으로 하기 소자를 포함하는 액정 셀:(a) 하나 이상이 입사광에 투명한 서로 평행한 제1 및 제2 기재 평면(11a, 11b),(b) 상기 기재 중 하나의 기재상에 제공된 컬러 필터 어레이(13),(c) 상기 제1 기재의 내부에 제공된 제1 전극 층(15a 또는 15b), 및(d) 전기장 인가에 의해 둘 이상의 상이한 상태 사이에서 스위칭가능한 액정 매질(17),(2) 상기 액정 셀의 한 면상의 제1 선형 편광기, 및(3) 하나 이상의 광학 지연 필름(18)을 포함하되,상기 광학 지연 필름 중 하나 이상이 상기 액정 셀의 상기 제1 및 제2 기재(11a, 11b) 사이 및 상기 컬러 필터 어레이와 상기 액정 매질의 사이에 위치하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제2 항에 있어서,상기 액정 셀이 적어도 하나의 하기 소자를 더 포함하는 액정 디스플레이:(e) 상기 액정 셀의 개별적인 픽셀을 개별적으로 스위칭하기 위해 사용될 수 있는, 상기 기재 중 하나의 기재상의 비선형 소자 어레이(12),(f) 상기 컬러 필터 어레이(13)를 덮는 평면화 층(14),(g) 상기 제2 기재의 내부상에 제공된 제2 전극 층(15a 또는 15b), 및(h) 상기 제1 및 제2 전극상에 제공된 제1 및 제2 정렬 층(16a 또는 16b).
- 제2 항에 있어서,(4) 상기 제1 선형 편광기의 액정 셀의 면과 반대되는 액정 셀의 면 상의 제2 선형 편광기를 더 포함하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제2 항에 있어서,상기 컬러 필터 어레이(13)가 평면화 층(14)에 의해 덮여 있고, 상기 하나 이상의 광학 지연 필름(18)이 컬러 필터 어레이(13)로부터 멀어지는 쪽을 향하는 상기 평면화 층의 면 상에 위치하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제2 항에 있어서,상기 하나 이상의 광학 지연 필름(18)이 최근접 기재로부터 멀어지는 쪽을 향하는 상기 컬러 필터 어레이의 면 상에 위치하고, 평면화 층(14)에 의해 덮여 있거나 덮여 있지 않은 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제5 항에 있어서,상기 광학 지연 필름(18)이 상기 컬러 필터 어레이(13) 또는 상기 평면화 층(14) 상에 직접 제조되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제1 항 또는 제2 항에 있어서,상기 광학 지연 필름이 중합 또는 가교결합된 액정 물질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제8 항에 있어서,상기 광학 지연 필름이 하나 이상의 중합성 메소제닉 또는 액정 단량체를 포함하는 중합성 액정 물질로부터 제조되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제9 항에 있어서,상기 중합성 액정 물질이5 내지 70중량%의 하나 이상의 이반응성 비키랄 메소제닉 화합물,30 내지 95중량%의 하나 이상의 단반응성 비키랄 메소제닉 화합물, 및0 내지 10중량%의 하나 이상의 광개시제를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제9 항에 있어서,상기 액정 물질이 비중합성 키랄 화합물, 중합성 키랄 비메소제닉 화합물 및 중합성 키랄 메소제닉 화합물로부터 선택되는 하나 이상의 키랄 화합물을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제9 항에 있어서,상기 액정 물질이 광이성질화성(photoisomerizable) 화합물 및 광가변성(phototunable) 키랄 화합물로부터 선택되는 하나 이상의 화합물을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제9 항에 있어서,상기 액정 물질이 하기 화학식 R1 내지 R23으로부터 선택되는 하나 이상의 화합물을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이:화학식 R1화학식 R2화학식 R3화학식 R4화학식 R5화학식 R6화학식 R7화학식 R8화학식 R9화학식 R10화학식 R11화학식 R12화학식 R13화학식 R14화학식 R15화학식 R16화학식 R17화학식 R18화학식 R19화학식 R20화학식 R21화학식 R22화학식 R23상기 식에서,P는 중합성 기이고,x 및 y는 동일하거나 상이한 1 내지 12의 정수이고,A는 L1에 의해 일-, 이- 또는 삼치환되거나 치환되지 않은 1,4-페닐렌, 또는 1,4-사이클로헥실렌이고,u 및 v는 서로 각각 독립적으로 0 또는 1이고,Z0은 -COO-, -OCO-, -CH2CH2-, -CH=CH-, -C≡C- 또는 단일 결합이고,R0은 F, Cl, CN, NO2, OH, OCH3, OCN, SCN, 4 이하의 탄소 원자를 갖는 플루오르화되거나 플루오르화되지 않은 알킬카보닐, 알콕시카보닐, 알킬카보닐옥시 및 알콕시카보닐옥시 기, 및 1 내지 4의 탄소 원자를 갖는 모노-, 올리고- 및 폴리플루오르화된 알킬 및 알콕시 기로부터 선택된 극성 기이거나, 또는 상기 극성 기들 중 하나가 아니며 1 이상의 탄소 원자를 갖는 할로겐화되거나 할로겐화되지 않은 알킬, 알콕시, 알킬카보닐, 알콕시카보닐, 알킬카보닐옥시 및 알콕시카보닐옥시 기로부터 선택된 비극성 기이고,Ter는 터펜오이드 라디칼이고,Chol은 콜레스테릴 기이고,L, L1 및 L2는 서로 각각 독립적으로 H, F, Cl, CN, 또는 1 내지 7의 탄소 원자를 갖는 할로겐화되거나 할로겐화되지 않은 알킬, 알콕시, 알킬카보닐, 알킬카보닐옥시, 알콕시카보닐 또는 알콕시카보닐옥시 기이고,r은 0, 1, 2, 3 또는 4이고,페닐 고리는 1, 2, 3 또는 4의 L 기에 의해 치환되거나 치환되지 않는다.

- 제1 항 또는 제2 항에 있어서,상기 광학 지연 필름이 자외선 영역에서 빛의 반사를 갖는 트위스티드 구조 또는 콜레스테릭 구조를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제1 항 또는 제2 항에 있어서,상기 광학 지연 필름이 양성 또는 음성 A, O 또는 C 플레이트인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제1 항 또는 제2 항에 있어서,상기 광학 지연 필름이 1/4 파장 지연 필름인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제1 항 또는 제2 항에 있어서,상기 광학 지연 필름이 광학적 2축 필름인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제1 항 또는 제2 항에 있어서,상기 광학 지연 필름이 nx, ny 및 nz가 서로 상이하고, nx 및 ny가 nz보다 크고, nx 및 ny가 필름 평면에 대한 직교 방향의 기본(principal) 굴절률이고, nz가 필름 평면에 수직인 기본 굴절률인 광학적 2축 음성 C 대칭을 갖는 콜레스테릭 구조를 갖는 2축 필름인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제1 항 또는 제2 항에 있어서,상기 광학 지연 필름이 상이한 배향, 또는 상이한 지연, 또는 상이한 배향 및 상이한 지연 모두를 갖는 둘 이상의 영역을 포함하는 패턴을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
- 제1 항 내지 제7 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,트위스티드 네마틱 모드(TN), 하일리 트위스티드 네마틱 모드(HTN), 수퍼 트위스티드 네마틱 모드(STN), 활성 매트릭스 구동 TN 모드(AMD-TN), 인-플레인 스위칭 모드(IPS), 정렬된 상의 변형 모드(DAP), 수직 배열된 모드(VA), 전기적 제어된 복굴절 모드(ECB), 컬러 수퍼 호메오트로픽 모드(CSH), 수직 정렬된 네마틱 모드(VAN), 수직 정렬된 콜레스테릭 모드(VAC), 멀티-도메인 수직 정렬된 모드(MVA), 패턴화된 수직 정렬된 모드(PVA), 광학 보정된 벤드 모드(OCB), 반사성 OCB 모드(R-OCB), 혼성 정렬된 네마틱 모드(HAN), 파이-셀 모드, 표면 안정화된 콜레스테릭 텍스쳐 모드(SSCT), 등방성 모드 또는 신규한 모드의 디스플레이인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
